I agree.
Build the open air stadium for $125m and build an additional convention hall.
Surely you could build one with the equivalent floor space of a football field for around $50m. It would be way cheaper.

An open air stadium with the amenities to attempt to attract the events the Mayor mentioned would cost a lot more than $125m. Such a stadium would likely be more in the ~$250-400m range for the capacity required (65,000 minimum to bid on CFB Playoff Championship Game).

For reference, Baylor's 45,000 seat stadium cost $266m; Minnesota's 50,000 seat stadium cost $303m and Colorado State's soon to open 41,000 seat stadium is costing $202m.
How much was the Citrus Bowl rebuild?

207M, they apparently demolished the entire lower bowl and rebuilt it. It's basically a new stadium.
Was there for the Cure Bowl 2 years ago and yes it's a new stadium.

I agree. I'd like to see it packaged together all as one big bond deal. Build the open-air stadium, renovate Legacy Arena, and renovate the convention hall space.

That's pretty much the plan that was intended.

22k seats in phase I which will be done by August 16. 33k after phase II to be completed after the 2017 season. I believe phase I is $23M.

Correct. It's a gorgeous building with 250k sq feet of suite and office space.

On Campus vs Off Campus. What can you do on a on Campus vs. What you can do on a off Campus Stadium Facility. For instance on a on you can do this and the () goes and then it goes their. Just a Template you can fill in the spaces (seats).

I'm 100% convinced that this account is an experimental bot created by GTS.

Ok, I'll play.

We cannot build an on campus stadium without the permission of the UA Board of Trustees. They will not allow us to.

Given the choice between Legion Field and a new, state of the art stadium at the BJCC, we'll play at the BJCC. If the city government ever removes their thumb from their anal orifice, anyhow.

It is the city government's responsibility to promote building what is best for the long term enhancement of the city's facilities, not just what will please UAB fans. According to the descriptive locations furnished by BlazerJay, the BJCC has access to property that will not put the MPF location in danger for the sake of a seasonally limited use stadium. When / if the BJCC authorities decide to build such a stadium where the city wants to put the MPF, then it may have to do it without money from the city. The "tail" does not usually get to "wag the dog".
