NIU in 2018: Florida State, Iowa and BYU on the road, Utah at home.

http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-schedule/

The fantastic fiscal (mis)management of Illinois politicians results in the NIU football players taking a beating, just to be able to continue to play.

RE: and I thought our Non-Conference schedule was tough this year.....
Yes, and I have harping on this for years.

Remember, 2015 when WMU sacrificed their season by opening with MSU, then getting upset by Ga Sothern and then played at OSU. They lost 3 of 4 OOC games.

In 2016, their OOC schedule was sweet with what IL and NW from the B1G as their toughest OOC games and with a decent schedule this time beat Ga Southern.

And we know how 2016 turned out: MAC champ. Only loss vs. WI in the Cotton Bowl.

Ours are Charlotte, Rutgers, Kentucky, and Army this year right? Wouldn't be impossible to go 4-0 in OOC in my opinion.

Winning the Lotto and getting struck by lightning not impossible.

I'll take 2-2, without a Missouri-like blowout, with a smile. Kentucky beat Missouri last year 35-21, Missouri hung 61 on us. Should be the exact opposite type of game that we saw against Missouri, as Kentucky loves to run the ball, which should hopefully give us more of a chance with our deep front 7. Kentucky rushed for 377 yards against Missouri in that game.

I'll be in Kentucky with numerous family members cheering for a shocking upset, but.........

I'm really optimistic we can drop Rutgers. They were garbage last year. 4 shut loses. Including scores of 78-0, 58-0, and 49-0.

I'm confident with our depth at all positions except QB (no proven backup), TE (one experienced senior) and of the course the OL. I'm hopeful as the summer progresses we get some of the younger players to step it up in these areas. I really like the defense which I think could be better this year even with out Pace and POC. The X factor to me is the confidence level, the guys can see how hard work in the weight room and conditioning pays off and how the new defense scheme works. I'm at 2-2 non conference and 4-4 in conference. If we had the offensive line we had last year then I would raise this, but its not to be.

I think we beat Charlotte for sure, and win either the Rutgers or Army games. I'm not bold enough to predict a win over any SEC team yet.

Rutgers seems more likely than Army, who has long been a thorn in our side. Granted, we are better equipped to stop the run now than we were in the English days, or in Creighton's first couple seasons, but Army always seems to have our number. If we get out to a quick lead and make them play from behind, we have a strong chance. We'll need Roback's A-game in that one.

I am not conceding any defeats yet.... Let's see how fall camp goes? However, the SEC is the toughest Conference and Kentucky is darn good!!!

Yea I don't remember us ever playing an OOC schedule like that. I'm okay with it if it happens occasionally though. At least we aren't playing Presbyterian.

For the G5 schools?

No, for every school not in a power five conference. Something has got to give.

I think you'll see them separate from paid to play power 5 conferences to scholarship only conferences (MAC).

Are you talking a new sub-division?

We can call it the "college football" subdivision, to contrast it with what the P5 has become.

Who we calling up to this new mid tier subdivision? CAA, MVC, and the Big Sky?
