I didn't, but I just did a search and it seems like a nice box and I had a box with identical specs and it worked quite well. It does have the minimum specs which are Android 6, 8GB of storage and 2GB of RAM. I'm sure that it will work perfectly fine if you only use it to stream tv. Once you set it up it will use around 5.5GB of storage. You will have to be careful about loading it with more because that will slow it down.

The price for sure is right at around $70.

My first Android tv stick was a dual core Mk808b...a dual core android media player I still have with 1GB memory...8GB storage. It came with Android 4.1.1. I paid about $35? or something like that.
The next one I got was a MS Amlogic812 with 2 GB memory...16 GB storage. It came with a remote...but I use a USB mouse for it for better control. Paid about $68 for it...and it came with Android 4.4.2
I JUST purchased another Android stick to replace my dual core....a Mk809IV with 2 GB memory...and 16 GB of storage like my other Android player downstairs.
The difference is that this has a new Rockchip 3229 processor...and it only cost me $32.84.

So the prices of these doohickeys is dropping...and you don't have to pay a fortune for them.
I like Rockchip based players better than the ones with Amlogic processors....not many games work well with the Amlogic tv boxes.
IF you want to buy something like this..I would recommed you buy from a seller in the United States....I had ordered mine from China...paid for it March 20...and its just NOW arriving on US soil. (It was supposed to be delivered April 14th according to eBay)
It went through Chicago yesterday.

Prolly the only thing I don't like about the new stick, is that it uses the older Mali 400 graphics. Other than that...I think I will be able to live with it.

Is this a plug and play device or do you have to do some programming, which I know nothing about.

Most of the boxes come loaded, but there can be a bit of programming needed if they aren't.

What I would suggest for anyone that isn't sure if it is for them is to download it onto your computer. I have had a few requests, so here is the tutorial. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask at any time.

one thing some people need to know..is that the Android boxes loaded with KODI ...arrive with a version of KODI that is out of date.
I recommend uninstalling KODI...and getting a newer version installed...and reinstalling the plugins.
If anyone needs help....Stammers can walk you through it in email...or I can too.
I have been using KODI for a couple of years now...and there are some other nice video streaming apps out there.
(Mobdro for Android is AWESOME, as is CCloud plugin for KODI)

I haven't had much luck with Mobdro or CCloud. Most of the channels don't seem to work, but I haven't tried them in a long time, will give it a go again.

Great info in the above posts, thanks. The only thing that really separates the box that I have been buying from yours is that I have Android 6 on mine, which will probably work longer than Android 5. Android 4 no longer works if you want to upgrade to Kodi 17.

One last little thing. No need to uninstall Kodi if you upgrade to Krypton 17.1. Log into Google Play Store, search for Kodi and click on upgrade. This will allow you to keep all of your settings.

I also found a solution to running Hulu on these two boxes. I found a XDA site with old versions of Hulu...one of them allows my box to zip right thru the commercials in super speed. 8-)

my SPMC based on KODI 16.4.2 is working fine for the moment. All the plugins I use work well...Exodus, Specto Fork (fork of the old Genesis), Sports Devil, Icefilms, Snagfilms, B.O.B., Big Star Movies, TubiTv, Navi X, Turkish TV
If and when it stops....I will figure out a way to upgrade the box to Android 5.1.

Also, services like Sling TV, Playstation Vue, and a few others give you traditional cable channels online for a reasonable price.

Depending on what you watch an OTA DVR that records shows from antenna and drops them onto a plex media server for you to watch later catches a lot of stuff. Then fill that out with Netflix, Hulu, etc.

I get HBO during the GoT season, and catch up on Silicon Valley and Ballers at the same time.

The prices are different in different regions, but this site is awesome at helping you put it together, to see who offers what and what you need to subscribe to for full coverage. It seems that Hulu Plus, PlayStation Vue and Sling will get you almost everything.

At that point it cost more than my dish network with DVR though.

RE: KODI & Cutting The Cord
Folks be careful if you buy an Android Media Player or Tv Box.
I bought one that was advertised as having 2 GB of memory, a RK 3229 processor..and 16GB of internal storage.
It took a month to get here...and I ran CPU Z to get its stats.
Found out afterwards I had been had.
Processor was a RK 3066, it DID have 2GB of memory...but only 2GB of internal storage.
My other media player that I have had costed about $68 for 2GB of memory and 16GB of storage...so I thought I was getting a deal paying $38 for this one.

I notified my seller that I was not happy...their response was basically "Prove we sent the wrong item."
Uh, that is what SCREENSHOTS are for geniuses....LOL.
They now have the proof....I'm not going to ask for a total refund..because the player is still better than my old dual core media player with 1GB of Memory.

If I can find an Android 6.0 rom for this thing..the storage wouldn't matter...as Android 6.0 or higher sees ALL storage as part of its overall storage....basically formats it as a RAID storage drive.

RE: KODI & Cutting The Cord
(04-13-2017 09:02 PM)Stammers Wrote:  During my banning, I observed the few mentions of Kodi and cord cutting on this board and also participated in different discussions in other places.

When I cut the cord, I would have friends over and they would ask what I was using to watch tv. When I explained it to them they all wanted the same box that I had. In the last 6 months, the whole thing has snowballed. I have sold around 80 of the units to friends and friends of friends from Amazon using Amazon Prime, which happens to be one of my 5 favourite things on the entire planet. I don't make any money from sales, just happy to point friends in the right direction and turn the tables on cable companies that have been screwing everyone over since the beginning of time.

I experimented with a bunch of different boxes from different manufacturers, with my choice based on the following.

- Specifications
- Customer reviews
- Price, bang for the buck
- Performance

The best box out of all the ones I tested, meeting the criteria above is the one listed below.

H96 Pro Plus Android Box
Android 6
Amlogic S912
32GB storage
3GB RAM

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B06XW9CMYL/ref=...lus+3g+32g

The unit costs anywhere between $90 - 105 USD and does an amazing job, especially with live sports streams, which take up the most resources, have the most traffic and are the most difficult to get to work in high quality. The NVidia Shield is recognized as the best unit, but you are mostly paying for the ability to use it for gaming. At double the price I don't feel that it is worth it if you are only using it to stream Kodi.

There are a lot of deals out there right now, but Kodi has gone to version 17.1 called Krypton. Many of the boxes that are on Android 4 will not be able to upgrade to the new platform and will be obsolete. Also, many of the cheap boxes only have 1 GB of RAM and will buffer or freeze especially during live streamed events.

At a minimum, if you are buying a box it should have the following specs.

Android 5 (but no reason not to have Android 6)
Amlogic S905
8GB of storage
2GB of RAM

For anyone who doesn't want to shell out the dough, you can easily install Kodi on your computer and connect it to your tv through a $10 cable. You can also install it on your phone, but the feeds use up a huge amount of data in a short time.

If you are one or two adults in your household, you can easily cut the cord completely by having one of these units and an antenna to get local programming. If you have children, this isn't a solution to cut the cord, but you can easily keep your core of cable channels and completely get rid of Netflix, HBO and any programming you pay for to get movies and tv shows.

If anyone has any questions about a box they want to purchase or any questions about programming, and where to find certain stuff, please feel free to ask anything.

If anyone wants me to post the tutorial that I include when I send someone a unit, I will be happy to do that.

Are we not going to mention that most of the streams that people want to watch are completely illegal? Side note Kodi works just fine on a $45 fire stick.

RE: KODI & Cutting The Cord
I always have conversations going on with a bunch of you here and personal friends. Just an FYI, from 2017 up until the last 3 months I had been recommending the H96 Max + Android box, and its earlier versions for Kodi and IPTV. I have to say that the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K is now better. I don't think the Firestick has improved a lot over the last couple of years, but it seems that the coders have spent a lot of time focusing on how to make Kodi and IPTV function better on it. The Amazon Fire TV Cube had horrible reviews, but I am hearing that it is also much improved. I will probably buy one in the next month or so to test it out.

The Readers' Digest version...

- Amazon Fire TV Stick 4k
- Internet connection of at least 120mbps if you are in a large space. If your router is close by you might get away with 60mbps. I would recommend 400mbps
- Spend money on a great router!!! This is the most crucial element by far. I have had great results with two, but there are a lot of options on the market.
- TP-Link Deco Smart Hub & Whole Home Mesh WiFi System. Purchased in 2020, around $160 USD on Amazon, works great and has 4,500' square range
- TP-Link Netwrok Archer C5400 AC5400 Wireless Tri-Band. Purchased in 2018, newest model around $200 USD on Amazon, works great, 4,000' square range
- We don't realize it, but a family of 4 will probably have 10 and up to 18 devices connected. (2 TVs, 2 soundbars, 4 PC/laptop, 1 printer, 4 Cell phones, 1 landline, 2 bluetooth speakers/Bose/Sonos). You need a powerful, intuitive router to pull it all together.
- IF you can connect to your modem directly via ethernet, that is the most optimal. Can't be done with the Firestick.
- IPTV service $10-20/month
- KODI with DejaVu, The Oath, Venom and The Crew addons
- Real-Debrid account for $3.50/month

Great Coverage, No Gray Area: $87 USD/month, rates vary depending on region and providers
Hulu Plus
Playstation VU
Sling TV
Netflix

The site below is still amazing at breaking it down

Cutting The Cord

As always, if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.

RE: KODI & Cutting The Cord
I caught a Firestick 4K sale last week @ $29.95. I wish I’d bought two because it’s awesome for Apollo Group TV (they’re back up and running). And thanks for all your help with this.
