Wait a minute. I thought Tubby only takes naps and plays golf.

Yeah, he's flying to Bismark, North Dakota to see a kid that has been offered by USF, ECU, Charlotte, Duquesne, VCU, and Stetson.

Why are you showing a video of the dude getting his shot blocked? What are you trying to gain by running the guy down? Are you just having fun and kidding around at the player and Tubby's expense? What's the end game?

Obviously not.

We are now past the 1 year mark of Tubby being hired and they are going to Little Rock to TRY to get in on 2017 HS kids that they have never been in contact with before and flying to Bismarck to go after a guy that will have serious struggles in D1.

Hell, if he had shown half this much fire and determination on April 18, 2016 as he is now we'd likely be in much better shape.

Instead he's running around with offer papers in hand for just about any body that will accept them.

So strange how this recruiting is taking place.

I feel certain that if they targeted a kid and lose that kid to another school, you'd be very critical of that circumstance.
What are you gonna do if this upcoming team and these players win for Tubby? Just curious since you've blasted everything the staff has done since they got here.

Agreed about 2016. If he was this engaged, we'd have been a deeper team.

I think he's doing a very good job NOW. He's trying to fill out a roster. He had Lomax in the other day. I think he's finally getting this thing going. If he keeps up the pace, I feel great about 2018...

We need another big, real bad... We've got Azab (untested) an that's it. We also need another PG, would really like Darrington (getting more doubtful every day)..

The only thing worse than having to go up against schools like Stetson, Charlotte, and Duquesne is losing out to them.

He obviously hasn't gotten who he wants.

Memphis still only has three guards at this point and one center, but have 5 guys capable of playing PF who can't play center (unless you want force Rivers to go through that again).

Unless they get Darrington, everyone now is a hail mary. They were considering a D2 guy as recently as 10 days ago.

I have taken the time to try to convince myself about some of these guys they are going after. The guy Tubby is seeing now plays in a bad JUCO league where most teams don't have guys taller that 6'5.

One of guys best games was dominating some 6'5 native american kid named Bearpaw Mosely. I'm not even making that up.

The leading scorer/ second leading rebounder for the 11-15 Bismarck State team committed to D2 University of Mary (not St. Mary's, but the Mary Marauders).

Yeah, they lost 6 seniors, three commits, and their head coach. They are pretty much in "anything with a pulse" mode.

ESPN Top 100 recruit Mayan Kiir, like Lavar Batts, Jr., de-committed from VCU last week, and fifth-year senior Ahmed Hamdy asked out of his scholarship to exploring playing options as a graduate transfer. These two decisions leave the Rams dangerously thin in the front court. Including incoming recruits Sean Mobley and Marcos Santos-Silva, the Rams have only three players over 6-7 on their roster. Rising senior Justin Tillman is the only one of those players with collegiate experience and the 6-9 Mobley was recruited based on his shooting ability and guard skills.

I was at Gibson's Donuts while the tournament was in town and Cal was there talking about Bearclaw. He must be outstanding, Cal was raving about how good he was. I mean he couldn't get enough, I think he ordered another one.

Cal's always one step ahead. He'll probably rip up Bearpaw's schollie and tell him to pursue his dream.

It's pointless with you, Saluki

He wanted Nickelberry, Enoh, Jamal Johnson, Thornton, Davenport and Brewton. Got em all.
He wants Darrington, Usman and Brooks. Likely a swing and a miss on Brooks.
I'm for letting him put together his team and see what they can do. Then pass some form of judgment.
You appear to just want to bash and that's your prerogative. Again, if they turn out to be good/winners, I don't know what your gonna do.
I know you're a good fan and want what we all do, but, geez man.

I've no choice for letting him put this team on the court.

Hell I'm not really bashing, if telling facts is bashing.

I'm cool with the frosh, I think two will end up being good players in a couple years. Just not expecting them to be ready to play 15-20 mpg next year without being exposed.

I don't like the idea of stuffing this team with JUCO's. I wish the staff had gotten more frosh.

I would rather get a one-year rental (grad xfer) than a JUCO project that may be of use by mid 2019. I would like as many open schollies for 2018 as possible.

I also just don't see the roadmap (based on tried and true historical trends) to this team being good next year.

I am frustrated that Tubby didn't make a bit of effort to shore up last years squad.

I wonder how a dude with 40 yrs experience can't figure this out.

I think you make fair points there. I'm just choosing to be optimistic. My reasoning for that is that I do trust Tubby's ability to coach and run a program. Personally, I found nothing good about pastner and his ability to do those things. I'm still riding the joy that the guy is gone.

And I guess that's where we differ.

I'm making my predictions and look at the team with stats and historical trends, while you admit you base yours on subjective measures like "optimism" and "trust Tubby."

Almost all of this post is correct.
