Nostagia...it was the first pro sports dome, so the locals cherish it for that reason, though as I said, the analogy about the car sitting in the driveway fits perfectly. They need to gut it and turn it into an honorary garage/shaded parking lot or something. Some guys broke into years back. It was gonna be the Track & Field venue for Houston's Olympic game bid but once that flopped it should have been torn down.

The Armory in downtown Mpls (the old, old arena, where the Minneapolis Lakers used to play ...) is indeed a parking garage, now.

The ULine arena in Washington original home to the NBA Washington Capitols, and a hockey arena, was used as a garage for many years, and finally just reopened last year as REI's flagship store







Interesting to finally have it reused in a very useful way.
