zero chance of this happening. Media wanting to put something in their echo chamber to keep a story alive. Now the media does not write or use social media to inform the public, they write tweet post to impress their fellow media friends,

They are being proactive in announcing what the penalty will be if Chancellors running athletic conferences attempt to interfere in NC politics again. Conferences without universities have no value. It's about time a legislative body stood up and assured the tail wasn't wagging the dog. These are state institutions owned by the taxpayers, they do not belong to Chancellors, they are entrusted to them.
And if they act collectively against the best interests of our taxpayers, adios .

It's really that simple.

A non NC chancellor will not give 2 thoughts about what the NC General assembly says and the NC university would suffer
while i agree with that general sentiment, you think the ACC wants to lose UNC?
No but I think there are a few universities in the CAA who wouldn't be heartbroken about UNCW leaving.

Everyone's focusing on the ACC but we would probably be the biggest losers in this due to our conference configuration of this junk were ever to pass

Listening to pundits on ESPN discussing resting players in the NBA. Than a point was made that if Silverman didn't care about the fans, then the All-star game would have been played in Charlotte. And soon after a point was made stressing how important it was to play games in China. This is so, so ignorant. Do these people really think they are on top of human rights issues????

it's the ole proverbial double standard. They care, but only if it serves their agenda.

They care most about money. Playing in China broadens their fan base. Moving the All-Star game earned public perception points and cost them nothing.

Hoops hits the double standard right on. Its ok to protect a transgender nba fan from the evil State of NC but ok to let them be discriminated against by the entire country of China?

This is what I have been trying to say from the beginning. But so many people look at me like "Huh"? Human rights is so much more of a global issue. These issues in America pail to what is going on in many other parts of the world. It's such a shame how people push their agendas while wearing blinders.

What the hell do you want them to do ? Do something that hurts the business they are in ?
Whoever wasted their time writing this latest crap should be run out of office on a rail by the voters in his district. Its an absolute joke and makes him look a total idiot after the failure of HB2 and the Pat McCrory disaster. I went to high school with Pat and could have never imagined him being so hard headed about his own political future. This bill is just a piggy back on HB2 and will never get the chance to affect UNCW,UNC,ECU,NCSU or any other state school.

It's not about wanting them to do something that hurts their business. It's wanting them to stop taking hypocritical social stands.

Good luck with that-not how the world works these days. That is also just your opinion and we all have that right.

Calling them out on their hypocrisy is not an opinion. The facts were spelled out. All facts. Don't get the two twisted.

The facts are what they are and its your right to your opinion on how they should conduct their business, not sure they care about that. They are taking a stance that makes them look good and their opinion is that is the correct way for them. I think most people see it their way. I don't happen agree with the BS bill or how they responded to it.

RE: House Bill 728
I think most of the "money" disagreed as was evident in the political fallout of this event. Apparently the epic failure of HB2 was about the only thing simple about this whole situation. I could care less about the damn bathrooms to be honest. I do care about the state looking like a bunch of stubborn clowns.

Mullets right, it's the way the world works. Most "money" would rather be on the side that makes them look good. Acc was just one of many. Most people in the state of NC agreed as well. Are we going to boycott everyone who takes a stance against a bill?

Nobody is boycotting anything. I'm kind of confused on your point here. You're saying the NBA's hypocrisy is okay because money is the way the world works and I guess their boycotts are okay. Then sarcastically mock anyone that might boycott their hypocrisy because boycotts are foolish somehow?

The logic there is just a tad confusing.

I think he is saying that they want to look good in the eyes of the majority and it has very little to do with right or wrong. Its all about the money. Pat McCrory was so stubborn that it cost him reelection as governor of NC. He might be the only incumbent to lose in the bid for reelection and it was all due to HB2 and the fact that the people wanted it to go away-ASAP. Any bill that is related to HB@ in any way will be hard pressed to get passed.

I don't think any of us actually believe the bill will pass. I don't even really support it. I just like how it attempts to call out hypocrisy by sports organizations.

Hypocrisy is ruining our culture. Of you're going to boycott NC over bathrooms fine. But don't go play games in China where transsexuals are treated much worse. That is hypocrisy

Yes, that's my take. The best thing we can do as a state is let this thing die with no more unnecessary attention.
