There are fans that want to see it, but you haven't read Bisonville because you think you know better than them.

Bisonville is just a handful of rubes. They speak only for themselves, so about 0.01% of NDSU's fanbase.

Well we agree on something! But they make a lot of noise.

They make a lot of noise ... on Bisonville. Duh.

Who cares? They have zero influence over decision makers at NDSU.

Regardless, no FBS conference is going to add one without the other. So NDSU's supposed "desires" are irrelevant anyway.

Yes it is -- NDSU isn't going anywhere without SDSU. That is a set in stone fact. You can try to deny it, but that's just a lie.

Show where it is set in stone. You can't and its just a lie.

The posters on Bisonville are always complaining about artificial tethering to SDSU and how NDSU deserves a full rival like UNI. SDSU is tethered to USD and that's it.

You do realize that fans on a message board don't make decisions for a university's athletics? The percent of BV fans who actually donate to NDSU is likely less then 25%. How much influence do you think a group of fan boys really have? Besides, if it were up to BV NDSU would be in the Big 12 or the Mountain West.

I'm beginning to think you are afraid of UND being in the same conference as NDSU. For years you have ripped them and suddenly now they are the great University, the chosen one. Odd how that change occurred when UND announced they were moving east.

Suck it up. Competing against NDSU isn't that difficult. We've been doing it since we moved up, and outside of FB they really aren't that big of a deal.

Our softball and track teams are usually pretty decent, for the Summit sports. But yeah, like you said, football is king in Fargo.

True, but USD compete head to head with you in T&F, softball... you have a point.

However, we trump your softball with our Women's basketball teams. My point to him, there really isn't anything to be afraid of. Even in FB, the UND program will be better off competing against NDSU. SDSU FB is only where we are because we had no choice but to compete with NDSU. We either kick it up a level or get left behind and no one at SDSU wanted to be left behind in any sport by NDSU.

Doubt it really has anything to do with being afraid.

There was some really, really crappy decisions made back in 2003. Lot of bitterness and hurt feelings. Which ultimately led to NDSU always being a "step ahead" of UND in the conference movements, until UND got the Big Sky offer. So they took that, even thought it was painfully obvious how terrible the travel was.

Time for all that silliness and childish crap to come to an end.

Glad that a handful of collegiate golfers, tennis players, and swimmers can go on to the highest levels of their respective sports ... but most of the competitors at that level bypassed the collegiate level of competition, for good reason.

There is no reason to be giving athletic scholarships to golfers, tennis players, or swimmers. 07-coffee3

For tennis, you're pretty much right. However, most Olympic swimmers for many countries and not just the US swam in the NCAA beforehand since the swimming endorsement deals for people who aren't Michael Phelps are miniscule enough to not bother turning pro early for. The limited number of spots in PGA tour leads every American golfer except for a small handful of exceptions to get their degree before turning pro due to the uncertainty of being able to make money on one of the minor tours, let alone making and staying on the big tour.

Thanks for the correction. Yes, I was basing it off tennis.

Fair enough, that many top level swimmers and golfers do compete for NCAA programs.

Nonetheless, I don't think that justifies those being varsity programs. I don't see anything wrong with them being club programs. There's nothing inherently wrong with club teams, versus school teams.

Swimming is a must for California schools. There would be a huge howl if that was eliminated. It's the equivalent of Ice Hockey in the Upper Midwest.

MplsBison, this is a cultural difference between the Midwest where you went to school and the Southern climes on the coasts. I'll chalk this up to solipsism, simply not knowing the uniqueness of your experience to that of other regions of the country.

California schools make money on swimming?? No.

That's the basis. Believe it or not, men's hockey does make money for northern schools.

Again -- there is nothing inherently wrong with club sports. A lot of top level athletes in various sports actually compete for clubs, either in lieu of school teams altogether or once their eligibility to compete for school teams is exhausted.

As was said in the other thread ... I just think St Louis is holding out hope for a Big East invite, and views A10 as a prerequisite to that end.

Could be wrong, we will see.
