I know this was tongue in cheek, but is worth noting that both Esleeck and Manuel have a little s&c experience. Esleeck was a s&c intern, and Manuel served one season as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Carolina.
That's good to hear. Sounds like they should know what to be looking for in an ever important hire. 05-stirthepot

I believe this is a Jimmy Bass hire and will not be CB's alone. Pat did not just support the basketball program. He was the coordinator for the S&C of the athletic department.

RE: McGrath assistants
Wolf is official.

http://uncwsports.com/news/2017/4/27/men...staff.aspx

Sounds like he has good experience. I think we all knew/read about his NBA and NBADL league experience, but this stood out to me:

Wolf also served for three summers as an assistant coach under Mike Fratello with the Ukrainian National Team, helping the country qualify for the FIBA World Cup for the first time in 2014. He was Director of Basketball Development for the Ukranian Basketball Federation's preparation for the FIBA World Cup. One of Wolf's players in Ukraine was Kansas standout Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk, who recently announced his intentions to enter the NBA Draft, but did not hire an agent.

And this:

"I'm excited about getting back into college ball and it seems like the right time. I hope to work with everyone, but I have the mindset to work with the big guys."

I like having a big man coach on the staff. Time spent with Wolf on footwork, back-to-the-basket offense and defense will tremendously help Devontae take even bigger strides forward these last two years.

Wow,

McGrath has filled out his staff as Keatts still sits with open positions. I bet the NCSU fans are disappointed in comparison....

RE: McGrath assistants
Your sarcasm is not very humorous, except to you two.
We didn't hear $hit except negative crap for 2 weeks.
We have gotten very good news 2 days in a row, things are looking up. That's all we wanted, something good to build on. The recruit appears to be very good and I like the assitant coach with ability to work with bigs, now we just need some for him to work with. Now let it go. I know you just can't get your hand off his knob because he's a UNC guy but Geesh. The sarcastic comments directed to berate the few of us that didn't like the silence is getting old already.

Getting old already? You mean like the non-stop negativity that lasted for weeks? Deal with it like we did. Personally, I couldn't care less about the Carolina connection.

RE: McGrath assistants
Joe Wolf knows the fundamentals. A guy with limited skills does not last as long as he did in the NBA as a player and a coach unless he knows the fundamentals and can teach them.

He played for several NBA franchises twice. Teams wanted him back.

Pulling for McGrath to succeed is bad because he coached at Carolina, but hating the hire for the same reason is okay. Is it okay to be excited when/if he is successful, or will that be Carolina love?

I'll obviously be pulling for him if he's successful, because clearly, if he's successfulhe will be a KU guy :)

I appreciate the jovial response. Understand that my intent with some of the posts today is ribbing rather than twisting the knife. Tone doesn't come through well, I know, but it really was all intended to be good natured.

I don't care that the assistants went to UNC and I don't care that McGrath is from Roy's coaching tree. That's hasn't been my motivation at any point during the search or after the hire. My interest is in UNCW basketball and it's success. I know that we have that in common, as well as rooting against the Sox this weekend.

Fair enough. Glad the Yanks could take care of Sale for you guys tonight. You avoid Porcello and Sale. That's a pretty good draw!
