I respect his hard work and dedication during trials at home. He appears to be a person of strong character.

Joe signed #19 Kyvon Davenport and #22 Kareem Brewton. He has the inside track on #13 Chris Darrington and #48 Raynere Thornton. Give the man some props, he's busting his arse and finding some talent.

I respect that he is having to pull the weight of recruiting for 3 assistants as I have seen zero of substance from Pooh Richardson and minimal from Saul (I'll give Saul credit for Nickelberry and, I believe, Karim Azab).

You're cherry picking again. With these jucos and the earlier high schoolers, we've won recruiting battles with Old Miss (multiple times), Auburn, UTK, Arkansas, Vandy, Texas Tech, Bama, Florida, and quite a few others.
Plenty to complain about. No need to go after new recruits.
I'm not cherry picking and I'm not bagging on anyone. Merely stated a fact about who Memphis is currently recruiting against.
Hell, like has been referenced before, Parrish got a call from a low major coach mad that Memphis is now after several of his targets.
cherry picking
Is this the new fallback term when someone has no real ability to discuss a point?
Well, all righty then.
So do you dispute the list of P5 schools that I gave you above?
You make it sound like the only other schools going after these guys are SWAC and Sun Belt. When in fact, they've had quite a few P5 offers - from guys like Kennedy, Pearl, Beard.
Okay.
Factually, Memphis had battled, or is battling, schools like Fordham, FAU, MTSU, and Stetson for multiple recruits.
I imagine some bigger schools are getting in on last minute roster fill out, but we and the schools above are looking to plug them in to play immediately.

Right, it was the process we underwent in past years. We would generally select JUCO players to fill in gaps. Now we wish they pick us to fill starter minutes.
There is no doubt our recruit quality has fallen compared to the past ten years. Tubby will have to work with lesser "raw material" and still produce a level of service acceptable to Tiger fans. I hope he can do it.

Let's see how it plays out - maybe they have 1-2 grads on the radar....maybe even a high level difference maker.
Most have their doubts, but you never know.

...and the tough part is that those guys only have two years to get at it. There really isn't time to "develop" a JUCO.

I for one give big time props to Esposito. With the many defections we're seeing, the man IS busting his @ss on the recruiting trail to try and bring in players that will play and fill out our next years roster. What's concerning to me is, going forward in our recruiting efforts to land the top local talent in the upcoming 2018 and 2019 classes. Those classes are loaded with top ranked local talent, and a must that we sign the very best to stay home and be Tigers. If not, I think that will be it for Tubby in Tiger town.

What's concerning to me is the prevailing opinion/narrative of his supporters has now shifted to this - let him clear house and get his guys into the program.
Okay.
If figures you would have a plan in place right - he's a 30+ year experienced Hall of Fame, national championship coach who knows that's he's doing (we've heard that enough).
Yet.
They are only at 8 scholarship players at it certainly appears to be scramble mode late - JUCOs and offering the D2 kid.
IMO - a competent coach and staff would've had players lined up months ago, would've had commits ready to go the second the season was over, and SHOULD have a ton of contacts from the decades of college coaching and many coaching stops. WOULD have been working the grad transfer market months ago via back channel contacts. WOULD have coaches from all over saying, hey I have a kid who could help you, etc.
It certainly doesn't appear that way from the outside.

Joe has done one heck of a job for the position he is in, imagine what he could do if he had 2 other assistants and a head coach giving as much as he does.

Just saying I appreciate his all out effort.
I think Joe E would be better served at a top program.
Unfortunately, two less than stellar hires here has set things back considerably.
I don't like to gloat but I was proven right abt Pastner and can already read the
tea leaves with Orlando. We need a Richard Pitino type in here but this current
situation will likely cause us the 2018 and 2019 local talent.
