Yes, thanks, Cal, for coming back to Memphis so we could see the karma train run right over you. Been waiting for that for a long time. It was great!

This is Calipari's fault.

We could have built a program like Gonzaga. We could have been clean and not catered to players (and their fathers).

Under Calipari:
We hired Dajuan Wagner's dad. We were in shady with AAU coaches and player handlers. We built a winning program the wrong way (like Louisville). That culture persists, even after we were stripped of being National Runner.

Some on here still want to shake hands with Cowboy and go all out for winning.

This "winning at all costs" mentality has to go. We can't placate prima donnas and their families.

Maybe the reason we have such a high transfer rate under two coaches (Pastner and Tubby, who couldn't be more different in style) is because of the overarching culture of our program? 03-idea

The biggest problem with Calipari is that he skewed our expectations (mine included). We all think we should be on par with Kentucky, North Carolina, and Duke. While we've had a solid history, it's nowhere near what those schools...

yeah, we have crazy expectations now - like post season play and not getting blown out by teams with less talent.

At this point even the NIT seems pretty far fetched.......

We will NEVER be like Gonzaga: private Catholic University in the middle of pretty much nowhere.

Our success was always built on Memphis-area HS talent. It always will be as well.

Cal was a perfect fit for us at the time: somewhat desperate, somewhat shady guy who could somehow get top national talent to come here. We've had decent out-of-Memphis talent come here (Will Barton, Shaq Goodwin for CJP, Omar Snead for Tic, Larry Kenon for Bartow) but it is pretty darn rare.

In Memphis, the coach has to take the good (talent) with the bad (posses, hangers-on, ear-whisperers).
