Final Four
Gonzaga defeats SC in first game. Oregon vs NC early in the 1st half.

Three Oregon connections to Rice off the top my head.

1. Former Owl Ennis starts on this team
2. Former Owl Kazemi played for Ducks.
3. Rice blew a 9 (?) pt lead to Ducks in Autry in 2006 in the last minute. Hard to do that.
Oregon ended up with 29 wins that year. I guess now we would never get an opponent like that to even play in our building.

Go Zags!

I hope Oregon loses by 40

Rice got a mention when they listed Ennis's college history.

Jeremy Jones plays for Gonzaga, 2 former Rice guys in the Final Four. Imagine if these guys stopped transferring.

RE: Final Four
I don't recall that Oregon game at all but we lost in overtime to an Aaron Brooks-led Oregon team. He's still playing in the NBA. That was a pretty stout schedule we played that season. We played Gonzaga (in their tournament - we got killed), at Utah, a Belmont team which may have made the NCAA tournament that year, Vanderbilt and Princeton (another blowout loss) in non-conference play alone. And the conference was much stronger back then.

One thing that hasn't changed is our attendance. Oregon only drew 1395, Vanderbilt 1776, and I think Houston at home was our only game all year over 2000.

Don't blame Jeremy Jones for this.. He wanted to stay at Rice and just play basketball but Rhoades wouldn't put him on scholarship!

I don't necessarily think that was a bad decision. Sure, we'd like to have him now, given the exodus of a few key players, but I'm not sure Jones would have contributed much to this year's version of the Owls.

No issue with Jones. Ennis, on the other hand....

RE: Final Four
If he does play somewhere, my recommendation would be to not line him up as the primary rebounder at the free throw line at the end of the game (like Dana Altman did with 4 seconds to go tonight). 6-2 guys have a hard time blocking out 6-9 and 6-10 guys as a general rule. North Carolina missed four free throws at the end of the game but because Oregon couldn't block out on either possession, they never had a chance at a final shot in its one point loss.
