And a big shock.......Gonzaga loses. The last champion from a non P5+ Big East conference remains UNLV in 1990.

They may be non P5, but their operating budget surpasses many P5s

It's a shame they lost since UNC will probably vacate this title.

Also, the postgame interview Andy Katz did with Nigel Williams-Goss was a heartbreaker.

I didn't see that, but I can tell you that I was more heartbroken after the loss last night than I expected. Don't get me wrong, I'm not upset about it anymore, but at the time the game ended, I could just feel it for the fans and players.

Gonzaga is a picture of what I hope UAB to be one day. Find a coach in it for the long haul and do everything necessary to build a nationally respected and competitive program. It really did hurt to see them so close to finally achieving the goal, only to see them fall just short.

Aside from that, my only comment about the game was that the refs sure did make sure there wasn't any enjoyable basketball played last night. I don't know what the final count was, but at one point there were 40 fouls called compared to 39 field goals attempted.

Touch fouls on the perimeter got called and muggings in the paint didn't. It took Karnowski , Collins & Meeks out of the game with the fouls called on the screens.

And a blown no-call on UNC out-of-bounds.

Gameplan from the start was to get their bigs in foul trouble. Give it to Carolina, they did just that.

I remember seeing one replay where the shooter goes up, defender goes straight up inside the arc, and the shooter used his none shooting hand, reaches out and rakes it up the defender's arm while holding the ball away and shooting with the other hand. All contact initiated by the shooter. Foul called. 3 point play. Well coached on how to draw the foul.

Meeks got away with a lot that the Zags bigs were called for.

UNC should be given the death penalty. It's a joke they're still playing any sports at all

Well, the Carolinas had a good ending of the college BB season -- UNC won the MBB National Championship and USC won the WBB National Championship.

I'll say that people were much easier to deal with around here yesterday than if Carolina had lost Monday night.

These guys are the basketball equivalent to Tuscaloosa fans.
