Dr Noland did a facebook live event last week that was really great to see. As for this, I personally dont see the value in it.

you don't see the value of the president having a good time and showing students and others he is accessible?
Yeah lets go back to them locking themselves in an ivory tower handing down pronouncements.

I see the value in him engaging the community, and the facebook live event was a great way to show that he is accessible. His open office hours policy is another great way, as is his presence on campus which was a welcome departure from Stanton's style, as is several other less visible decisions he has made about making the university procedures more transparent. I fully support the man and the job that he has done. I just think this particular video is silly and unbecoming of a university president. We disagree, which obviously means I am wrong. Oh well.

Why so serious bro? But I do agree with one thing, YOU are obviously wrong.

He could try to be original or funny but at least he is trying. As a president he is top class at least.

That was wonderful. A first class President who gets it and can relate to everyone no matter who they are.So proud of him.
If I'm a 17- or 18-year old student deciding where I want to go to college.......that's the kind of thing that would say to me "Yeah, I think I'd feel comfortable at ETSU". There's room for "silly" in life, even on campus when you're the top dog. As others said, it bespeaks accessibility and approachability - thus making college much less intimidating.
And no, of course stanton wouldn't have done that. mullins and bartow? Sure, I'm betting they went joyriding and singing with students from the dorms just *all* the time. Which is why our student attendance was just thru the roof with them.

Well said, both of you. Loved it.

Thought the video was neat. Again Dr Noland shows why he is successful. He is and has been an engaging president that's is open and inviting to all.

The most memorable professors/instructors that I can remember were the ones with genuine, humble, , unpretentious, often humorous, and confident character. Out of that, their exceptional intellectual capacities and knowledge were on full, engaging display as real, inspiring, trustworthy, motivational , and believable. My guess, Dr. Noland would be one of these in the lecture hall.
