RE: CB McGrath
He sounds pretty good to me. In fact, after I read about him I liked him better than the Zona assistant. What has held UNCW back in the Dance? It's having not enough half court D. I really like the way UNC plays ball. They play FAST. They play HARD. And, they have enough bigs. Keatts was great for UNCW but he's moved on. He got us back. Now where do we go? He can recruit well from several reports and he knows the East Coast landscape too. There's a lot of factors that go in. Yes, the FGCoast coach is very good, but maybe Bass feels that this guy is as good or better.

Let's wait and see how it shakes out. This may be good. I'm just glad to have a coach in place that should be ready at this point. He should know what a program needs to be successful. Whether you like Roy or not, they play the game at a high pace and plays the game well. He's a GREAT coach so he's learned from one of the best.

Nothing is official at this point so no need to get fired up one way or another.

The guy has the resume that mid majors look for. UNC is as good as it gets in college basketball-like them or not. If he is the next coach I think you have to trust the AD and stay on the straight and narrow. This thing is rolling now and the guy has to be connected-I like it. I know there are a lot of Carolina haters on board here but I see it as mostly irrational emotion.

Slow clap for the mullet...

I'm all in if it's him. His connections are going to be endless from a recruiting stand point. No one likes change. Especially after coming off of a season like ours. At a minimum I think we keep the fast pace which is good.

Sean May's problems were with his feet and head, not his knees. He never lost the 40 pounds or so he needed to in order to be a NBA player.

That's not a great example for college players. He can move up a chair at UNC-CH, if it's reinforced.

McGrath is a favorite of Roy Williams because he out thought and out worked the competition as a player and a coach. It is an excellent characteristic for a successful coach.

Absolutely. Mullet is right on with this. I understand people won't like him because he's a "Carolina" guy. But is he, really? Or was he just following a coach he loved? He played at Kansas. Had Roy gone and coached anywhere else he likely would have followed him there too.

Let's just let it play out and support the guy.

Don't be the fans that slaughter a coach before the press conference mics are even on.

UNC in Trask....bookit.

It would not surprise me at all that Dooley simply wanted too much money or a contract we could not agree on. Let's not forget, Sartarelli is the ultimate decision maker when it come to a hire, not Bass. And it also wouldn't surprise me if Pasternack decided a move to the east coast was not his best chance to succeed. If you look at the UCSB job, they aren't paying anywhere near what we would pay, but he's a finalist.

IF McGrath does well, he is also a coach I could see staying at UNCW long term. I am more than willing to start with enthusiasm and complete support for ANY hire at UNCW. It would be stupid to do otherwise.

And please, let's not speculate on assistant coaches. Nobody here has any clue...whatsoever...who he would bring on.

I actually hope he keeps at least one of Keatts guys, I don't care who it is. That would at least leave behind a guy who knew what Keatts did via the press. It would also keep some continuity for the current guys on the roster.

Unfortunately, I thought the opposite. A few good years at UNCW and he then has the missing resume piece to succeed Williams when he steps down.

I hope he gives Claflin a game on their court. Fair is fair.

I could them playing at Trask-one time. Roy can visit his beach house and get to hangout with his long time coaching buddy. You could count on some games in Chapel Hill and no matter what people might say on this board playing there or at Duke is very exciting for UNCW level players-not to mention that you pick up a huge check on the way out.

Look at the timing, it's clear Pasternak decided on UCB only after we turned him down. Within an hour of the news breaking that CB was our guy, he accepted there.

Guess this is just a board meeting to approve contract? C.B could still be in AZ with business to take care of.
