His GCU visit is on Friday. He is at Butler tomorrow.

EDIT: Nevermind. Just looked and saw that he canceled his Butler trip. My bad.

Looks like Cal Baptist got another D1 transfer... UC Davis transfer Mikey Henn (6' 8", 230, Fr).

Well, if anything, Cal Baptist will be able to match up (in 2018) with any team in the WAC size wise.

Wow that's impressive. CSUB needs big men desperately after this year. N'doye and Aly graduate plus Briggs who isn't even a true PF to begin with but will play there. After next year there will be no true PF or Center on the team. Barnes needs to get a few good big men. Pretty worrying. We will have to end up relying a first year Center and PF. Hopefully Barnes has a plan.

Cal Baptist's Rick Croy looks to be an up and coming coach. If he sticks around with the Lancers' through their D1 transition period, that program will be a tough program in the WAC.

As for Barnes, He will probably pull a rabbit (or two) out of the hat and land a few JC and/or D1 transfer big men to reload his front court.

RE: WAC offseason transfer thread
I'm honestly hoping that the thing Majerle tries to sell to Benson tomorrow is the fact he would have the ability to join the GCU lore. If Benson were able to be a integral part of the first team to make the tournament for GCU, he would be remembered for quite a long time. It isn't so much as that the rest of the program isn't important, but more so that the one thing Wisconsin can't do nearly as much is offer that because of the history of the program.

Barnes did say this year with the NIT run there were grad transfers interested for the first time ever. I will be excited to see what kind of caliber players he can bring in now with our success. We will be losing 5 seniors next year so lots of scholarships open and only 1 verbal commit for 2018 right now.

Wow well this was unexpected. NMSU's Braxton Huggins has been granted his release and transfer. You know you want to come home Braxton.

Huggins was one of he "likes" on Rudi's tweet.
Yah, will be interesting to see where he lands.

I can't imagine NMSU would allow him to transfer to a WAC school. Most schools don't allow athletes to transfer in the conference.

I know just thought it was worth mentioning he's from Bakersfield. They should be able to transfer within conference or wherever they want. It's a dumb rule.

RE: WAC offseason transfer thread
I see some Aggies fans on other sites calling this kid a traitor. Please stop. He is a kid who lost another coach. It's entirely reasonable he would want to transfer. Just the nature of college basketball. Blame this all on Weir not the kids.

RE: WAC offseason transfer thread
NMSU or any school should have the right to say you can't go to another school in conference unless they are a grad transfer. I also think players should be able to come and go like coaches if they please. If Huggins is a traitor then so are about another 520 or so kids that are transferring to new schools for this upcoming season.

It's definitely worth mentioning and was mainly made in jest, don't get upset.

Huggins will be applying for a Family Hardship Waiver.

Huggins will be applying for a Family Hardship Waiver.

If granted a family hardship waiver because he has to help provide care for a loved one, then it is logical to assume he would be staying & playing close to home. Can't imagine the gasoline that throws on the pilot light of CSUB/NMSU "rivalry".

Might even make some Aggie fans forget how much they hate GCU. Hahaha

Haha you would have to think CSUB would be on the blocked list though. We will see what happens. I certainly am interested to see where he goes. Although we don't have a scholarship to give currently unless something unforeseen happens.

RE: WAC offseason transfer thread
Sound like hardship, if granted, is an override. Could the NCAA really keep up the charade about "doing what's in the best interest of student-athletes" if they upheld the block on a school that is close enough to allow him to help out w/family matters and still attend/play basketball?
