They might if we can keep the recruits and their families away from this thread. And a winning season wouldn't hurt either.
I don't recall any single day where we received so many commitments.

Don't worry, I have been assured that no parents or recruits read rhe Parliament.
I know your being sarcastic, I'm a 2017 recruits father.
Keep in mind that this is the first recruiting class to see the completed facilities.
That should help and winning !

I have advocated an "if you don't have anything good to say, say nothing at all" approach, and have been told to STFU.
But glad to have your perspective added here,

I think constructive criticism of recruiting (or lack thereof) is fine. But if you're complaining after we've just had our best recruiting day in recent memory, then I don't think you'll ever be happy with Rice football.
With regard to recruits reading message boards... Some might, but the Parliament is tame compared to most of its peers. Moreover, if they change their mind based on some alums on a message board, I might question their mental toughness, haha.

I just think there is no upside to the constant negativity about Bailiff, the assistant coaches, the fan support, the BOT, the Admin, and so on.
Not worried about people changing their minds so much as those who decide against us partially on the basis of the negativity here, and we never hear about the influence we had.
Alll we will, hear is,that X, who,had an offer, from Rice, chose the Univerity of Southern North Wyoming over us. We never know why, do we? All the announcement will say is that he loves the campus and the staff there.
But like I said earlier, I have expressed, these concerns before and been told not worry, nobody reads this stuff and nobody pays any attention to it.
Not sure what you call constructive criticism, but it,is hard to find in any post naming Bailiff.

What is going on? I am extremely pleased that Rice appears to be receiving commitments from quality players, but I have never seen such a deluge of commitments. I think we have received about eleven commitments over the last three or four days.

Our bagman appeared on Wednesday and he's been flying around the state.

About time
But I think all these commitments are from kids who were on campus in the last week or two for camps and got to meet the coaches and see the facilities. Let's also not get carried away here, only a couple of these guys have solid offers. For some we are their first offer or they've been offered by FCS and the service academies. Not lining up the 4 star recruits or anything...

RE: 2018 Football Recruiting
Just finished a series of summer camps, this year combined with a lot of other schools. So a lot more kids were seen and evaluated. Bailiff said how this was better than years past. With the earlier signing I believe in the fall, hope the retention rate will be closer to 100%. I think this year the NCAA only allowed camps on a college campus so many schools came to Rice.

RE: 2018 Football Recruiting
Bailiff has a ton of positive qualities. That's paid off in the past with good recruiting classes (we've pondered which assistants were responsible for assisting in recruiting the Rice players now in the NFL), when coupled with other factors. The new EZF is clearly a positive where we were lacking in facilities before.
Just saying that based on our list of NFL players, good recruiting classes are not unprecedented here.
Let's see how this pans out.

Signing day is important for all programs. Still, I prefer having good news now, than no news or just a little news.
