This. Over 700 players transfer every year now. With about 350 teams, it works out to, basically, two players on every team, every year, now transfer.

How many of those are grad transfers though?

None of our losses during jones tenure are from grad transfers so NO, this is not normal.

Nor is it acceptable.

Over 800 transfers last year. Pretty evenly distributed over all years of eligibility.

Think what you want, but over the last two years, only six teams have gone without at least one transfer. It's just the nature of the beast these days. Our issue is not just with players choosing to transfer for playing time. We have lost a ton of last ditch recruits that never should have been on the team if JJ didn't fail to fill out the roster with kids who could contribute . Then there are the three players that have been kicked off the team in 4 years and even more suspensions. Its a mess that can't be explained only by the ridiculous number of players transferring across the NCAA.

Here is a list of players who have transferred out since Jones got here.
Ekene A- never played a minute here. Transferred to a juco and never got back to a 4 year.
Batten- left as a grad transfer
Palmore- left after junior due to playing time (went from starter to playing behind Freeman). Went D2, had a great senior year.
Clark- left after his redshirt sophomore (was never in the rotation which might have been due to injuries). Went D2 had a decent jr year (9 ppg) and only played in 5 games his senior year (due to injury?)
Douglas- left after his junior year. (off court issues led to his exit.) was a D2 second team All American this year
Mosley- left as a grad transfer
Colbert- never played a minute here. I believe he ended up at Hampton

Add in Haynes and Fields for this year.

And outside of Colbert & Douglas (and possibly Mosley), they all left due to playing time. That is common in D1 hoops (especially now a days).
You forgot everybody's favorite... The Big Perv.

And that makes ELEVEN players in FOUR years. That is not normal, at least not from good teams.

The number of juco's we've brought in, the number of players we've kicked off the team and the number of players we've had leave is far from "normal".

It looks like the players looking to defend jones no matter what will just totally ignore reality to do so.

Correct me if I am missing anyone:

JUCOs brought in (5)
Ebondo
Douglas
Pervier
Kah
Haynes

Players kicked off the team (4)
Pervier
Colbert
Mosley (I think he had the option to return)
Douglas

Left due to playing time (5)
Batten
Palmore
Clark
Haynes
Fields

You're mad that we recruited too many juice transfers. You're made that Jones kicks players off for behavioral, personal, etc issues. You're made that players transfer because of playing time.

Tell me which of the players that left due to playing time hurt us not having him?

Tell me which player who was kicked off the team hurt us by not having him?

I think the fact that outside of Lake (who we aren't in the running for) you haven't heard a juco name pop up tells you that Jones isn't looking to go that route anymore. But hey if you actually acknowledged it, you would have one less thing to ***** about.

4 players kicked off the team in 4 years. Pretty sure Blaine had 1 in over a decade.

But sure, that's normal.

And again, you are judging based off of total transfers leaving to say "it's normal".

If you take out grad transfers that number drops significantly which means, no, losing 10 players in 4 years is not actually normal.

You once again fail to understand statistics.

If you take out grad transfers from the equation teams are not losing 2.5 players a year every year on the regular across college basketball.

Nice try though.

Do you know why those 4 were kicked off the team? Or do you think it was for trivial things?

BT also had a player get arrested right before a game..... So what's your point?07-coffee3
It doesn't matter why. If it was for legitimate reasons then it was ****** recruiting. If it was not for legitimate reasons he is kicking dudes off the team that shouldn't be kicked off, and if JJ had any kind of relationship with his players (no this is not just an opinion) maybe they wouldn't keep going rogue.

Well said Monarchblue. This is in line with what I was referring to. It is not solely about the transfers of Fields and Haynes, but rather the on-going developments where we seem to have one or more discipline issues every season where players are in street clothes for several games, and having people like Pervier that are recruited, then before they even get into the conference season they are kicked off the team. I'm not saying that he maybe should not have been kicked off the team. I'm wondering why he was recruited to begin with if he was such a bad apple. Same could be questioned about Douglas.

The more things like this happen, the more they are likely to continue to happen in my opinion because you are always trying to recover from the recruit(s) that didn't pan out. The last three seasons we have had to rely on walk-ons (Biberaj, Vassor, and Fields) to play significant roles on the team at least partly due to the events being discussed here. I seriously doubt that has ever happened to that extent in all of the prior years that ODU has been playing Division 1 basketball (mid/late 70's).

I think part of it is that we have a myopic point of view. We think we're the only team suspending players. Let me promise you, it happens way more than you'd like to believe. Lots of teams suspend players. But, because we don't follow other teams, we think it's just us.

Add in Haynes and Fields for this year.

And outside of Colbert & Douglas (and possibly Mosley), they all left due to playing time. That is common in D1 hoops (especially now a days).

Don't forget about Pervier........I could have sworn there was another kid kicked off too.
Pimento and Key

Both were kicked off by BT

I don't believe either one was kicked out.

Key transferred to hampton and pimentel left to go to a d-2 school I believe.

Blaine didn't even kick baze out for a dui.

Night and day with jones.

You forgot everybody's favorite... The Big Perv.

And that makes ELEVEN players in FOUR years. That is not normal, at least not from good teams.

Eligibility or no, it was still an awful recruit that did not finish his time here.

I never said he wasn't a waste of a scholarship. I pointed out that he did not transfer out.

You are wrong yet again.......pervier was kicked off the team, he did not "finish his eligibility"

How many of those are grad transfers though?

None of our losses during jones tenure are from grad transfers so NO, this is not normal.

Nor is it acceptable.

Here is a list of players who have transferred out since Jones got here.

Oh so he sat out a year at UNCW? Must have missed that year.

Mosley was also kicked off the team. Add it to the list of things you are wrong about.

Let me promise you, it happens way more than you'd like to believe. Lots of teams suspend players. But, because we don't follow other teams, we think it's just us.

Our level of suspensions and dismissals in 4 years is NOT normal no matter how much you try to convince us it is.

Jones has dismissed more players in 4 years than Blaine did in over a decade.

Losing guys to transfers is one thing, having issues that continually force dismissals is not normal at all.

Add it to the list of "things you are wrong about today".

For those who lack reading comprehension:
He was dismissed from the team (just like the 3 others I indicated)
He had no eligibility left, therefore he didn't transfer out.

And both BK and JP were dismissed from BT's team.

And Mosley (who I indicated was dismissed) was given the opportunity to return (which I read somewhere), but chose not to. And because Mosley graduated, he was considered a graduate transfer.

And if you don't know why Baze wasn't suspended for the DUI then you really are what people on this board say you are.

You can continue to argue all you want, but trying to have a conversation with you is pointless.

You are using technical definitions. Let's get to reality.

Almost all these kids were kicked off the team, including Mosley. Many had the opportunity to "announce a transfer", but make no mistake, that is no different than giving an employee you want to get rid of an opportunity to "resign".

The only two I can think of that truly voluntarily left without a "resign or get fired" ultimatum were Batten and Palmore.

I do think we need to get rid of discipline problems (real ones like Pervier and Douglas not fake ones like Mosley). I do not think we should be pushing people we recruited out just because they aren't as good as the scouting report predicted. It isn't the kids' fault, it is your fault for doing a pisspoor job scouting and recruiting. Unless you are a blue chip athlete, you just aren't going to be effective playing PG in NCAA D1 at 5'9".

I also think it is phucked up to use scholarships to screw with these kids to get them to come and walk on.

Even worse is using the admissions office to break a commitment that has already been made. That's right, he who is not to be mentioned has been glaringly left off every list on this thread.

So you think every player who transferred out was forced out? Does that theory apply to BW and football or just Jones and basketball?

And to bring Snowden into the conversation?03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao
