From Verbal Commits:

•3/28/2017 - 2017 SG David Collins (6-3, 200, 2★) has trimmed his list, and removed Kent State from consideration

•3/29/2017 - JUCO SF Jahlil Tripp (6-4, 205, 2★) has received an offer from Kent State

Other recruits with offers from KSU and still uncommitted:
PG Michael Miller, Shawnee Community College
PF Akiean Frederick, Sinclair Community College
PG Ahmad Clark, St Petersburg College
PF Jack Ballantyne, Dakota HS in Warren MI
SF Naz Bohannon, Lorain HS in Lorain OH
SF Levane Beecher, HS in Flint MI
SF Jalen Adaway, Logansport HS in Logansport IN
SG Lapear Toles, Fork Union Military Academy (originally from Canton OH)
SG Devon Cooper, Waggener Traditional HS in Louisville KY
PG Donald Cannon-Flores, Abraham Lincoln HS in Coney Island NY
PG Jahvon Blair, Athlete Institue Prep in Canada

The Tripp offer is a really interesting one. I was a little surprised to see we offered another wing recently because it seems like we should be looking for a post. This offer tells me one of three things.

1) Sendy wants to play small ball again next year. Tripp's a pretty well built wing and seems to be pretty athletic. He could possibly replace some of what Edwin's skill set let us do rotation-wise.

2) Maybe we have at least two scholarships to fill and we'll look to go big with the other one.

3) They think Tripp is too good to pass up. My guess is this is the case. He seems like a guy that could play at a bigger school (was committed to Rutgers at one point). I know what you're thinking... 6'5" well built wing with ties to Rutgers... not again!. He's from Justin Greene's HS so we probably have a better shot than a typical MAC school would with him. If I'm not mistaken he'll still have 3 years of eligibility too.

If we're going wing I'd still prefer Bohannon but Tripp seems like a pretty darn good silver medal. One other interesting note on Tripp. He missed his Junior year after he was shot in the leg outside of his HS. Supposedly he wasn't involved in the incident but was collateral damage. Then he broke his leg in a warm up drill a month after being shot. So I guess he's no stranger to overcoming adversity.

The Record Pub is reporting that Rosel Hurley is transferring and Leo Edwards has graduated and won't continue his college basketball career.

Awesome awesome awesome. This is a wonderful opportunity to add a couple of complementary pieces, or better. Go Flashes! And good luck to both of these gentlemen. Rosel was always kind to me in the halls of McGilvrey...

This is no surprise and it was in the cards. Sendy is pretty good at picking up late transfers that can help. Now we watch with anticipation.

Can't say either of those is surprising. So I guess this confirms that Ridenour is being put on scholarship since it says we have 3 left. Hall, Edwin, DeBerry, Edwards, and Hurley out. Duling and Ridenour in.

My guess is we look for at least one post and at least one wing. The wing probably being a bigger more physical type to replace the lineup flexibility Edwin offered, although Duling does figure to help here. Then with the last scholarship we either look for another big or just go best available. If we can find a good grad transfer that might be a good idea since we don't have a ton of holes already someone with talent and experience could put us over the top. I like the fact that the coaches will have the chance to try to use the tournament appearance in recruiting while it's still fresh.

I saw that a few northeast Ohio kids that we recruited out of high school are transferring from high major schools. Carlton Bragg - Kansas, Frankie Hughes - Missouri, and David Bell - Ohio State. Any word if we are interested or have a chance with any of these players? Also is there any chance Devon Andrews will be back?

Haven't heard anything but a transfer would make sense. We don't have any obvious redshirt candidates so might as well try to bring in a talented transfer. Can't play 13 guys anyways.

Also, Groce started recruiting Bragg when he was still at Ohio, and Bragg was considering going to Illinois before he chose Kansas.

Saw this article about an Ohio all star game that happened yesterday. Some pretty good players in it. A wvu commit, Buffalo's big recruit from St vs, and a butler recruit, another guy with high major offers, and a BG recruit. Duling took the game MVP.

Kansas transfer Carlton Bragg told ESPN he is considering Arizona State, Xavier, Illinois, NC State and Cincinnati.

Just saw on twitter that 6-8 forward Akiean Frederick has signed with Kent. He was second team Juco All-American and average 22.4 points and 11.3 rebounds per game at Sinclair CC. Maybe he's the guy to step in a fill Jimmy Hall's big shoes. 02-13-banana
