RE: AAC Fans - Who does your basketball team lose/gain next year?
The NCAA doesn't care how the conference representative is chosen. All conferences now send the tourney champ because in the top 10 conferences the regular season champ normally has a bid sewn up and if there are upsets they have a shot at an extra bid. This is the first year the Ivy League has held a tourney. The Big 10 was a hold out for a long time, they held their first tourney in 1998.

the regular season conference schedule is a better judge anyway.

AAC Fans - Who does your basketball team lose/gain next year?
I love the way things are set up now. Outside of a handful of Ivy League schools, every team theoretically has a chance to go to the tournament regardless of how bad their regular season was. Best postseason in American sports.

The NCAA tournament without Cinderella teams would be infinitely less interesting.

I agree.
BTW, the OVC invites only 8 of their 12 members to their conference tourney. I am not sure if other conferences also exclude members, but the number is small.

No you didn't. AAC's gone Louisville-SMU-UConn-SMU. Don't try to claim a one-seed as a championship.
Wait, lol. Are you trying to claim the regular season doesn't count? Hahahahahaha.
You do realize that only the ACC has that rule right? Almost every other conference declares a season champion and a tournament champion, who is awarded the automatic bid to the tournament.
Yes, I am claiming that the regular season "championship" is a glorified participation trophy, in any conference, and the idea of crowing two equal, separate "champions" in the same conference in the same sport every year is stupid. Houston didn't get an award for being the conference football team that rose highest in the polls over the course of the year, but I'm sure Villanova will be thrilled to hear that they're actually exiting this tournament as the defending back-to-back national champions. The team that gets the AQ won the conference.
No one person would consider the conference championship of lesser value than the conference tournament champion. I surmise the reason the Ncaa chooses the tournament winner is because of simplicity and added drama to the process. Who would watch the conference tournaments if the bid was not at stake. With the bid attached to the tournament, they can soak John sports fan for an additional week. The Houston analogy makes no sense.
Well....except the American agrees with me. Because if you go to the 15-16 conference champions schedule:
http://theamerican.org/sports/2015/6/1/c...e2015.aspx
...UConn is listed as the conference champion in Men's Basketball, for some strange reason. Also, you go to the conference's all-time championship ledger:
http://sidearm.sites.s3.amazonaws.com/th...mpions.pdf
...and Cincy's given credit for no championships in 2014. Incidentally, UConn's listed there again in basketball for last year, and Louisville in 14. So there's that.

We had no seniors but will lose some to transfers due to coaching change. How many still to be determined.
We could be even worse next year. As I said it will take years for USF to recover.
We likely have 5-6 players returning.
Gregory will get to add 4-6 players, pending APR and NCAA findings.
I think that Gregory will have a competitive team by year three. It doesn't take that long to rebuild in basketball as compared to football.
Recall that UCF was a mess last year but made a great hire in Dawkins. We'll know by year two where this program is going.

Yea, because the postseason is how they determine the championship, except in the instances where the sport in question doesn't have a postseason, which is why there's three football champions for 14-15. Take it up with the conference if you don't like how they determine champions. Maybe Cincy will win their first next year.

UC has won 27 conference championships, made 31 NCAA tournaments, won 45 games in the tournament including two national titles. The Bearcats had a run of fourteen NCAA tournaments in a row under Huggins which ranks 11th all time and have currently been to seven in a row under Cronin. The Cats also went to five Final Fours in a row in the late 50's and early 60's. Cincinnati has 410 appearances in the AP poll which ranks 12th all time. The average ranking for those 410 appearances is 11. There is a long history of great basketball at the University of Cincinnati. An all time resume that stacks up rather well against some of the all time great programs in college basketball.
What this conference needs is for UConn, Temple, and Memphis to play at the level of their historic resumes. When the conference was formed most assumed that Cincinnati, UConn, Memphis, and Temple would form the backbone for a conference that would compete with the Big East, SEC, and PAC-12 in terms of NCAA bids, top seeds, and top 25 rankings. A step below the Big XII, Big Ten, and ACC but way ahead of the A-10, Mountain West, and WCC.

So weird...Hmmmmmm:
http://theamerican.org/sports/2013/6/22/...aspx?id=3&
Cincy looks pretty clearly listed under the regular season champion.
Maybe UConn can finish higher than 4th next year in the conference for the first time ever.

ECU needs to sign a deal with ZUBAZ if they're going to put their prints on their hoops jerseys.
The Pirates have the best color combo in AAC basketball. Should be going classic, imo.

Still a couple scholarships available, which is embarrassing. Word is we are close on a couple HS bigs that flew under the radar, as well as a potential transfer.
We'll see.
Also adding Isaac Fleming, transfer from Hawaii who sat out this season. Will have 2 years of eligibility.

RE: AAC Fans - Who does your basketball team lose/gain next year?
The Wave loses 2 starters smith and Morgan, neither of whom are AAC caliber. Aguard who didn't play much is transferring out. Also another guard/small forward, Kain Harris, is transferring – he played some and I think he may do well somewhere else but Dunleavy didn't like his D nor court awareness. We had several players improve as the year went on and they're all back.
we have two transfers that set out that will play next year. One is center from Vanderbilt and the other a guard from UNLV. And we have three freshmen signed, all of whom are 6-10 or above.
We will be a lot better in the low post but still need some shooters.
Tulane should be a lot better next year

Yes it is. While the injuries gave Ollie a nice built in excuse for the poor play this year, something is seriously wrong with this program right now.
