Starbucks CEO To Step Down After His Anti-Trump Vow To Hire 10,000 Refugees Backfires
[Image: ruww10.jpg]

He and the Target CEO need to start a Commune together.

Quote:Howard Schultz, the current CEO of Starbucks, will step down from his role at the giant coffee chain next month.

The move comes after his vow to hire thousands refugees in response to President Donald Trump’s first travel ban appeared to hurt customer sentiment and dent their sales.

Trump supporters have called for a boycott of the chain since January 29, when Schultz vowed to hire 10,000 refugees over five years.

Schultz in a letter to employees said the promise of the American Dream was ‘being called into question’ and that ‘the civility and human rights we have all taken for granted for so long are under attack.’

I'm not sure that's the cause.

Quote:The 63-year-old made the announcement in December and will remain at the company as executive chairman

It's right there in the bullet points they put at the beginning of the article.

Quote:Trump supporters have called for a boycott of the chain since January 29, when Schultz vowed to hire 10,000 refugees over five years.

Fake news

Free Speech protects the rights of individuals to say most anything they want with no repercussions from the government. It doesn't protect you from the economic consequences of your actions. I'd love to see some boycotts of Hollywood actress's/actors movies. That might slow down the steady high pressure stream of hate from Hollywood. When those box office receipts fall by 50%, those actors wont be quite as in demand.

Honestly, I would love that too but my wife would probably divorce me. She loves her movies…and I admit I like to watch them too. Boycotting the idiot actors would be a hard sell.

Its not fake. He said in December he would be stepping down. The company publicly announced once again he's stepping down in order to stop the bleeding from his dumb*** remarks. After all, if he said he was stepping down in december, why does the company need to announce it again? The answer is because they are getting drilled by his comments, and are trying to show everyone that the doofus that made those comments will be replaced.

The "fake news" was in reference to the misleading, incorrect thread title from the OP.

Has the company "announced" anything? I didn't see anything in the article like a press release. This seems to be an article just detailing what is going on with the company. He announced in December he was stepping down, and that's happening in about 2 weeks. The OP either read the article incorrectly or was deliberately trying to mislead.

Also this guy is still going to be heavily involved with the company. Any attempt to spin this as him getting ousted for the anti-trump stuff is 100% inaccurate. (And just for the record, I don't like Starbucks and wouldn't set foot in one. Don't care about their politics, their coffee sucks though).

Most of the media has covered it in the past couple of days.

My personal fave was the certifiable DOOSH that yelled at that poor HS girl in the drive-thru during the Chik-fil-A "ban". Lost his job, if memory serves, lost his house, lost his wife and was in that same car living with his cat or something.

Even if one of those things is actually correct, then I 03-lmfao

He's right in that last paragraph. And people like him are the ones attacking.

I don't like movies or TV. Hell, I barely like sports anymore. Too much of it is geared towards the lowest common denominator.

I don't see anything on their investors page reiterating that he's stepping down. Just the original one back in December. I think if the board was really pissed, they would replace him immediately.

The stock price had been on a downward trend for a year before he even made that comment.
