Iffen I wanted to add some comdedic flare, I would ask then why did he choose ODU? 03-lmfao But, I thought better of it since that may sound like a jerk.
Instead, I will just say that he could potentially be a good pickup and I hope he works out well and reaches his goals. You just never know with most of these transfers, but they are worth the gamble.

If anyone is aware of any other potential transfers over 5'8 and with a pulse, please refer them to Southern Miss basketball.

If I wanted to add some comedic flare I'd say ask why restrict the height to 5'-8"? Surely anyone 5'-0" or greater who can dribble will make the program better at S.Miss :) But then I decided not to say it and sound like a jerk 03-lmfao

RE: Looking Ahead to Next Year
First to transfer from Marshall.

Freshman Ky're Allson Gone

This isn't a big surprise to most Marshall fans I don't think. Allison was suspended in the middle of the season for missing or being late to practice over and over. Allison may have turned into a good backup PG or SG but he was never going to start.

This now gives Marshall the flexibility to sign a Juco or 2 grad transfers and have 4 open scholarship spots in 2018.

I hope Allison finds what he is looking for.

Rice got a commit today from the St. Louis Metro League POY today. Only other offer was SE Mo St. though, so who knows if he's any good.

Don't dismiss those who don't have an offer sheet a mile long. Damier Pitts for Marshall only had offers from Marshall, WVU and Charlotte. Dago Pena, Marshall's 3 point specialist before Austin Loop only had a DI offer from Marshall.

Marshall has yet to sign anyone in the regular signing period. If we do sign anyone I think it will be a grad transfer or two. I don't think Dan wants to tie any scholarships up he may have for 2018 on a JuCo this year.

Marshall's 2017 Early Signee's
PG Jarrod West (Notre Dame HS, Clarksburg ,WV) WV State Player of the Year -- Won Class A WV State Title
SG Darius George (Lee HS, Staunton, VA) Class 2A State player of the Year -- Won Class 2A VA State Title
PF Tanner Robinette (Hargrave Military Academy, Honerker, VA) Part of the 2016 HMA National Prep School national champs with a record of 42-1
C Iran Bennett (Hargrave Military Academy, Durham, NC)Part of the 2016 HMA National Prep School national champs with a record of 42-1

RE: Looking Ahead to Next Year
WKU officially signed sharpshooting JUCO guard Jordan Brangers today. Brangers initially signed with Texas Tech. But was let out of his letter of intent to be closer to his sick grandmother that lives about an hour from Bowling Green in Radcliff, KY. He had no real offers in high school because of grades, but has improved his game significantly and is now the #3 rated player in JUCO.

Brangers hit 151 3-pointers this season which led the nation and broke the South Plains school record previously held by former Ole Miss star Marshall Henderson. The Texans finished their season 32-2 and took third place in the 2017 NJCAA Tournament.

UTEP will have 7 new players and 7 of top 8 scorers from this year back. At least 1 player, maybe more, will be on academic scholarship. Both Willms and Flaggert will be grads working on their masters. The team will make an August trip to Costa Rica for 3 games and 10 allowed practices prior to the trip in addition to 2 days of practice between each of those games. Looks to me that if Floyd keeps the team intact, next season should be a very good one. We've lost 1 to graduation and 2 to transfer so far. Keeping my fingers crossed for next season. Better OOC schedule too with 3 games in Puerto Rico vs South Carolina, Florida St, Boise St and others plus Washington St, NMSU twice and UNM.

That's interesting. UTEP's trip is Aug 15-20 and is being referred to as a chance for fans to accompany the team and see them play Central American pros. Schools are allowed a trip like this every 4 or 5 years but this is UTEP's first such trip since 2005.

Not sure the exact dates of the WKU trip in August to Costa Rica...but we too will get the 10 extra practices and should help us get some time for all of our new guys to gel a bit before the start of the season and the Battle 4 Atlantis in November.

In basketball I'd love to see U.T.E.P. get back to where it was in the past.

Me too. Depends on Floyd keeping the new signees and current players in the fold. If he does (which would be surprising) then this should be a good year for Miner basketball. Miner fans are now accustomed to waiting until at least Nov to figure out who is actually going to be on the court.

D'Antoni gets a commitment from 6'8, 220 pound SF/PF JuCo Dani Koljanin out of Monroe College.

Dani Koljanin

Also D'Antoni agreed to a contract extension till 2020, with a raise. Dan was getting ready to start his 5th year of a 5 year deal.

D'Antoni Contract Extended

I thought that D'Antoni might go grab a grad transfer for a year and then have 4 open scholarships come 18-19. I think a lot of people thought that. But then again that's why Dan is the coach and I just set and watch.

RE: Looking Ahead to Next Year
UAB signed Jalen Perry last week - 6'3"JUCO SG. Was named a 2nd team JUCO all american scoring 19 ppg while shooting 49% from the field and 48% from 3 last season in junior college. I think he can come in and start at the 2 or 3 for us. This fills a big hole in our roster and something we struggled with all last season, shooting three pointers.

If losing Talley wasn't so sad it would be funny after reading the posts above.

Tech signed a guy.

WKU signed a couple of guys.

Rice signed a guy.

Marshall signed a guy.

UAB signed a guy.

And ... ODU lost a key guy. 04-drinky
