THIS.

You seem happy about that. Why?

I'm not happy or unhappy about this, but I do believe this thread will end the way it's been going 4 pages in: Not well.
Cheers!

How do you get that I am happy about this?

Well I sure as heck don't see you outraged at nzmorange's take. That's how.

Not to mention you're a Louisville fan, which means you're for UCONN's continued downward spiral into irrelevance.

Why would anyone be outraged by his take -- which is simple, and observatory in nature??

If that outraged you, you may have some issues to dig into.

Where in my post did I say I was outraged? Hang on a mo while I look to see if I did.......nope nothing there.

I couldn't help but notice you didn't dispute my second point. I'd be lying if I said I was shocked by that.

Also, to the clown(s) who suggested Navy will be getting #16 in the very unlikely event ND decides to forsake their (faux) independence...the Cleveland Browns have a better chance of winning Super Bowl 51 than Navy getting an ACC invite.

OK, I get it. I am supposed to be outraged by his post. But you aren't.

Glad you're making sense -- to you and only you.

And to the second point -- let the record show that YOU want to engage me on that, and not the other way around -- why would I care about what UConn does - succeed or spiral into irrelevance - anymore? U of L has nothing to gain by whatever UConn does, positive or negative.

I guess I understand why UConn fans are so focused on us. We "stole" your rightful spot in the ACC. I get the bitterness.

But seriously -- I don't give two sh!ts about UConn one way or the other.

I've decided to go a step further with my prediction and say this thread is going to end very badly. Again, I'm neither happy or unhappy about the topic. Thank You.
Cheers!

Add me to the clown list. I don't think Navy will be #16 but I don't think they are a bad choice. National reputation. Good academics. Located in the MD/DC area. Relationship with Notre Dame. Military academy. Army/Navy game(s).

I don't think they are on the top of the list but I believe they are on the list.
If we wanted them they would be the choice. UConn guy won't except that. I understand why because they know UConn will not be the choice if we have a pick.

I'm glad you're so dialed in to what I will and won't "accept". You're just a freaking svengali over there. Navy has the same chance at the ACC as the Browns do at SB 51. You, Mr. ND fan, won't acc, err...except that.
I can see that UConn has been passed over a lot and likely would be again.

I just repeated what I have read by other UConn fans multiple times on this and other message boards. It is impossible NOT to hear that as a Louisville fan when around UConn fans.

And taking this back to the beginning, when I asked why I would be happy, you said I wasn't outraged, implying that I should be. And then you went straight to the bitterness angle, that as a Louisville fan, I WANT UConn on a spiral to irrelevance.

I get why you aren't playing this game anymore. Having your own words against you, and losing, is no fun.

It's messageboard talk, for every UConn fan you can find that says "Louisville stole our spot". I can find you a Rabbitinred type Louisville fans who "hopes UConn spirals into irrelevance"

Content is not necessarily the issue.

Because the ACC is second fiddle to the Big 10 and SEC in just about every key state they share, the ACC network will command less money per month in those states than their competitors.

And since the ACC geographical footprint is currently about equal to the SEC and Big 10, that means the ACC will make less money from its network. It's already making less money on the Tier 1 and Tier 2 rights.

The problem will become worse should the Big 10 and SEC expand once again.

So, if the ACC wants to get out ahead of the curve, it needs to add schools from large states that it currently does not occupy, even if those states are shared with other conferences.

In other words, it needs a bigger base of subscribers if it can't charge the same as the Big 10 and SEC.

Fortunately for the ACC, there are two available American schools in very large states in the central or eastern time zone. One of them has recently beaten the ACC's better football schools in bowls and in the regular season. The other is a long time rival of an ACC school.

I am talking Cincinnati and Houston.

***********

Number of citizens in each state in the footprint:

Big 10 = 105M (shares 40M with ACC)
SEC = 97M (shares 35M with ACC)
ACC = 105M (only 30M not shared with Big 10 or SEC)
Pac 12 = 66M (shares none)

The ACC footprint would expand to 145M with Cincy and Houston.

PS Any idea if ESPNews or ESPNU will be converted to become the ACC network?

I think this could be the death nail for the Big 12 if the ACC and other conferences jumped to take the teams that were in the running for the Big 12. If the P4 take schools from the MWC, AAC, SBC, MAC and C-USA that are top notch programs? Big 12 will have nobody to choose from, and could be torn apart.

I think that the B12, as a power conference, will probably be ripped apart because of how they handled media negotiations last year. If not, then good for them. It's not really the ACC's concern. I think that the ACC is pretty happy w/ it's place, and the B12 has no real bearing on where the ACC sits.

Good thing that UH kicks ass in TV ratings in the city of Houston. Which has about 5-6 million citizens and expected to double by 2050.

Remember how the SEC was praised for expanding with Mizzou. 6 million people live in Missouri. Remember how the Big 10 was praised for exanding into Maryland. 6 million people live in Maryland.

Houston is almost the same size as those two states.
