Kermit Davis became head coach of MTSU in 2002. Mike Davis was hired by UAB in 2006. Kermit was interviewed, I believe, as a courtesy.

Ah, you are correct. Thx

The fact that some games there was no effort and some games they looked fantastic does not seem to me that they got worse. If Ehsan is to be blamed for anything, it was his inability to keep this team motivated...and I'm not sure any coach could do that. The free throw percentage going down throughout the season tells me it was all in their head.

This type of logic is not acceptable around here. Ehsan sucks and is in over his head. As I've stated before, it was obvious who the leader of this team was, and without him we were a team full of ups and downs. People forget how many easy buckets lee and Cokley got simply because norton put the ball in the right spots. We should have had a backup plan for if norton went down, but how much of that can really be place on Ehsan? We tried like hell to recruit some good pgs and failed. Haase always said he wasn't going to take a guy just to have a player on the roster. It was a frustrating year to say the least, but I still think with a couple of additions we could have a really good year next year.

RE: Once again...
Motivating and having a team prepared IS the responsibility of the coach. Of course the players share some blame, maybe most of it but if you are going to give the coach a pass on how hard his team plays then count on us continuing to decline as a program. BLAH!

If I am the coach, and effort is the problem. I'd lose with lesser talent and better effort than put up with the crap of the players. If the WHOLE team is not giving any effort... that is coaching. This team got worse over the course of the season, it was obvious. Yes they had a couple bright moments in the downward trend, but the trend was still downward.

For those that are defendimg Ehsan and blaming the players for their lack of effort and motivation, I'm curious what you all consider the role and responsibility of a head coach to be.

Maybe not in this thread, but there have been some that have elsewhere on the board.

There's plenty of blame to go around to be sure, but a lot of folks are giving ehsan an near complete pass. The buck stops with the coach. What happened this year to give anyone any confidence?

RE: Once again...
The head coach is responsible for motivating players. However in some circumstances and with some players that is an impossible job. I don't know if this team or these circumstances made it impossible or near impossible, but the possibility exists.

So should a coach be blamed if he can't do the impossible. Should a player be blamed if he refuses to be motivated. Sure the coach can sit him, but he catches heat for that as well. Damned if you do...damned if you don't.

Not just Ehsan, abut all first year coaches gets a pass in my opinion, especially when their point guard goes down first game. He did a lot of things wrong this year, but he is learning the job, and it is to be expected. Some of you know this but just can't help yourself but to place blame.

Hold judgment until he has two or three years experience. He's not going anywhere until then anyway.

As I've said, even though i think this season was a colossal failure and Ehsan did very little to instill any confidence in me that he has what it takes to be a successful head coach, he still gets a pass. However, if next year is worse, equally bad, or only a slight improvement, then the heat should really be on. Especially if we have a full healthy roster. I doubt UAB would get rid of him but the primary impetus of his hiring (roster continuity, continued momentum) would be completely negated.

So your assertion is that it happened, not that you can name a time or place. And that if I had been keeping up, I would know. Got it.

Yeah. It's happened. Multiple times this season on this board. Do you want me to go back and scour all the threads and quote all the times it happened? I'm not going to call anyone out directly but there's someone who has posted in this thread who essentially called this team uncoachable due to the attitudes of the upperclassmen.

You are probably referring to me, and I never said that.

The word "essentially" is a great word. You can take what someone says, throw the word "essentially" in front of it and then reinterpret what they actually said into whatever you want them to say. Essentially.

Ehsan was a bad hire and is a colossal failure as a coach. We'll be stuck with him at least two more years, I'll wager. Or for however long his contract is.

He should not and will not (thank god) be judged on one year and one schizophrenic team.

Took all of 2 minutes to find that...and that's a mild defense.
