Saban found it in an old coat pocket. We need another P5 to ban FCS games and these payouts could get to 3M quickly.

Yeah OK. For a lot of schools there is no fear. Kentucky has played WKU (and lost twice, lol) recently. But for Alabama and Auburn, they will play anyone in the world except us. Go check out the instate schools they've played. It's a long list, and we're not anywhere close to being on it.

To be fair, I don't see us playing Jacksonville State anytime soon, even though I would LOVE to play them.

You will NEVER see Alabama or Auburn play Troy, UAB, or South Alabama. They will play the FCS schools like Jacksonville State and Samford, but they won't play the FBS schools. Heck, Troy has been around over 100 years in football and have never played Alabama or Auburn. UAB has been around since the mid 90's and has never played them either.

It's our SBC cross to bare. Our SEC counterparts won't throw us a bone. UGA will schedule the heck out of App St, Troy, and ULM but we will never get a shot. Auburn and Alabama have us scheduled but they won't look at you guys. It's all very deliberate and frustrating.

Kirby is not going to anytime soon that is for sure, although he is good friends with our current HC. He is trying to be mini Saban so bad. I got a feeling he is going to be mini Muschamp but time will tell. D Coordinators are a weird bunch seems to be a lot more theatrical and coach speak types.

Sure they play instate schools but they are always traditionally weak FCS programs. That doesn't stop Coach Saban from bragging about playing instate schools though.

Auburn did play Samford and UAB. But its been 20 years.

That doesn't surprise me at all. Auburn was once much more open to playing other DI teams in Alabama, including regular meetings vs USA in basketball (all-time series being close to .500). I don't know what happened to change their philosophy.

And they weren't FBS then either. See how often that happens going forward.

Why can't the SEC do it? It seems like the B1G and the MAC go out or their way sometimes to play the other in-state teams just to help them out......

It's purely selfish; an unnecessary risk. They don't mind paying and playing a southern FBS school that they know they will likely beat but they don't want to do it for an in-state program that may benefit from the exposure, get an increase in status, or worse, win the game. GT and UGA have stopped scheduling us in Basketball too.

GT was aware of our FBS intentions the first time they scheduled us and we were already FBS the second time they scheduled us.

GT found out fast that we would pack the house, they needed the attendance boost.

UGA, especially with the new cash cow SEC Network, doesn't need the boost - or the risk. Taking them to overtime and so contributing to some degree to the oust of Coach Richt, isn't lost on their new coach.

Giving credibility to another instate FBS prgram outside of their "hate" game isn't something the red coats want to do - nor most other SEC programs apparently.

We were on the uga schedule every four years before our move up. The last game was moved up a year at their request, and we have disappeared from their schedule forever it seems. I'd actually like to see some sort of state legislature mandate that requires them to schedule us every other year and pay us the going rate that they send out of state instead. I suppose the argument against such is that it is a wash if we get the same rate from an out of state program. 2 Million goes out, and comes back in. But it sounds like a good reason to get them back on the schedule to me! 03-wink I just want to take them down.. just one freaking time.
I'm glad we didn't play them last year. Since ol'slick willy set his mind on the graveyard tour at tulame - we've really struggled. I'm putting a lot of hope in us getting back to our identity this year and I'd love to see us in full triple option form, get a shot at those guys. Taking down the red coats and getting paid almost 2 Million to do it? Ah..... would be mighty sweet!

Auburn played Samford a couple of years ago when Pat Sullivan was still their HC. There have been talks of another UAB vs Auburn football game. Who knows what will come of it, though.
