"A free-agent culture: How transfers are killing Cinderella"

Unless this is an article about the coaching carousel (It's not), I can't take it seriously. Kids changing schools pay for their choice to transfer, either with a year of their lives or competing at a lower level. Some earn their "freedom" by grinding in the classroom and on the court to graduate early and take their eligibility elsewhere.

I humbly summit that it's the adults who are killing Cinderella. Someone PLEASE give head coaches the same rules student athletes have to follow when transferring schools (sit a year unless changing levels) & tell me we don't see good coaches staying at smaller schools longer.

I wasn't able to sign up for this Thursday morning because the CBS fantasy sports servers were conveniently down. So sorry to whoever's in last place!

Props to Crimson on the only one of us with 3 Final Four teams still in play for the bracket challenge. UCLA officially killed mine, though Xavier over Arizona was the real death blow. In the official NCAA Bracket Challenge (hypocritical), I created a coin flip bracket that is beating my actual picks. So, I have that going for me! Hahaha

RE: March Madness Bracket Challenge?
There are a lot of things killing Cinderella. But mostly it's money and media. We all want to watch the best, and if you are good you want to play the best and be seen doing it. So we as viewers gravitate to the P6, and the best players and coaches gravitate there. We are at saturation, and so the non major conferences are getting left behind. Nothing can change the trend. IMO no more than 100-120 schools can be supported in the upper tier and 75 are already defined.

Can't complain about the seeding, as we had two 1-2 regional finals, and our final four has two 1 and one 2 seeds, which is pretty solid. (that seeds 49-68 were knocked out the first round says they got seeds 1-4 and 13-16 correct as well, even if it's boring to fans that only two or three of those games were competitive - just means they got it right.)

As for my bracket, BUSTED. Kentucky was my pick and they went down to UNC on a buzzer beater three. Not enough defense - too much commitment in the backcourt rather than midcourt, left the spacing for a clean shot. A foul would have been smarter.

I am happy Oregon and Gonzaga got through as a west coast guy. Frank Martin is a guy I have always liked, great story, awesome coach (record everywhere speaks for itself), so I'm happy with South Carolina. The UNC-UK game was the blue blood titan death match, and it's hard to have a deep emotional attachment to either 500 pound gorilla. You need one to legitimate a victory by any of the other three. I had none of these teams in. My four were Arizona, Kansas, Kentucky, and Villanova (oops).

I will have popcorn and root for the three schools other than UNC. I think Frank Martin is they guy I want to see win.

A little OT, but I stuck it here as opposed to a new thread. I'm sure it's not that unique. My FIRST thought was, "It could have been filled with Havocs."

Article of UNC student section in Phx.

ASU student section members (942 Crew) & Havocs were also invited to fill some student section seats on Saturday. The 942 contingent (maybe 20-25) cheered with Gonzaga students during the first Semifinal game. Havocs & 942 cheered in/with Oregon student section during second game. I will reserve opinion/commentary about seeing Havocs & 942 side by side.

I would have loved to see.....tons of Havocs, wear...purple under the blue/white and reveal it in the second half.

Yah, maybe immature of me. Just kind of irks me that its all for show to an extent, an illusion of a bunch of UNC fans to make it 'look good.' Thus, I'd have been amused to see a bunch Havocs toss a wrench in the works.

There were a hundred from GCU to be exact. Muller bought a bunch of tickets for students and then Oregon's student section leaders asked the Havocs to join them.
