The most disturbing aspect of his transfer to me is his willingness to leave despite readily available playing time.

No offense, but the times when my Mom did my talking for me, it was never accurate to what I said or felt.
You make a good point, but truth is this clears the decks for a healthier version of Chad, either a rook or a grad transfer.

Chad is a good case of "what might have been."
Good point.

Meh, if Tubby gets a Juco big (or two) then the playing time would probably have been extremely limited.

The operative word in your sentence is "if". Tubby has done little to date to prove he can pick up a better JC player than Chad..

For some reason, grad transfers never live up to the hype for Memphis... Dixon, Stan Simpson, Chad, Kessee... they all seemed like they just didn't quite fit in.

You apparently don't remember the years when Cal had to put managers in uniforms and Dereck Chew(sp?) was fogging 3 pointers in Madison Square Garden.

Seems a mixed bag of results to me, but that also may have to do with the level of player too.

Grads at Memphis:

Pellom - George Washington
Dixon - Missouri
Godfrey - Southern
Tarrant - Tulane
Rykhoek - Baylor
Kessee - Coppin State

A Derek Chew reference! Gotta love it!

Not a huge loss in my mind. he wasn't ever going to get healthy and stay that way, his history bears this out. An unfortunate situation for him.

It's the same decision I'd make if I knew they didn't want me back.

That make it seem sad. Who has their heart set on him being a player?
I mean how many injuries can a young man's body take...
