FWIW, our Virginia brethren in the CAA like this matchup. JMU and William and Mary boards see our 3 point shooting as a big threat to their defense.
Chime in on your thoughts and observations.
I thought I had posted an in depth break down of UVA, but it ain't here. My thoughts?
UVA isn't particularly big and only have one player averaging double figures at 12.5 ppg. They have the #1 defense in America, but apparently it is built to stop interior games found on most ACC and P5 squads. Our speed and outside game could give them trouble. And if we can rebound and get out on the break, we could get hot and pressure them to score with us. They also play 10 players at least 9 minutes per game, so they have a deep bench.
CJ Bryce will be key. His ability to break down a defense and hit the short jumper in the lane will be huge. They stop penetration to the basket in the half court, so it will be hard for Flemmings and Talley to get all the way there. Perhaps we can draw some fouls and get the kick out.
Mosely and Ingram will need to get hot outside. If we can drain some 3's, they may not be able to keep up with our ability to score from every position.
UVA is +3.4 in rebounds per game and #2 in turnover margin at
+ 3.31. They are #1 in the ACC in defensive rebounding % at .758, so we will have to hit a high percentage of our shots.
Nobody scores a lot against UVA, so this will be a tough game without a lot of transition points. Something about this matchup I like after reading the Virginia boards though.
I just think we can outscore them at every position.

Interesting read about their loss to West Virginia. The cumulative effect of the press caused them trouble. In a deliberative offense like UVA, taking time off the shot clock and forcing the pace of the game is key.
