Coastal, Texas State, and UTA all play tonight. UTA's game with Akron is on ESPNU at 8pm ET. Winner goes to the NIT Quarterfinals and will be 90 minutes from a trip to New York.

Little Rock's Women blew a 13 point lead to lose at Alabama in the WNIT last night, so the 3 teams playing today are the last one's standing.

Oh yeah, I forgot. You've got that weird game date that's 2-3 days after all the other 2nd round games.

We probably blew the last of our athletic budget on that home game and our players had to hitchhike to San Marcos. It'll take a couple more days for everyone to straggle in.

Currently UTA is doing rather mean things to Akron. They are up 66-40 midway through the 2nd half.

Tell me why it's advantageous to let the tourny champion have automatic bid when on a year like this the Mavs will get a higher seed and have a better chance to make money for everyone in the league?

Can't believe we beat y'all the way we did after watching y'all play Akron. I'm glad we beat y'all because that prompted a pretty awesome road trip to New Orleans for me and some friends but I wish y'all would've made the NCAA. Y'all could have done some damage. Oh well.

Nice job to both Coastal and UTA tonight.

28 point lead with 6 minutes left for UTA. I'm gonna go ahead and call that game over.

Exactly. Just get rid of the dang tournament, we might actually save money as a league.

What would that have changed? UTA lost in the semis.

Yes they did but going forward if we are going to have all 12 in the tourney we need to find a way to give the 1-2 seeds a better chance to win it

Cal State Bakersfield is winning by 20 at Colorado State at halftime. If Bakersfield wins, then UTA will host them Wednesday Night for the right to go to New York. If Colorado State somehow comes back, Mavs head on the road.

Bakersfield beats Colorado State. UTA gets an unexpected 2nd NIT home game Wednesday Night in the Quarterfinals at 9pm ET on ESPNU. Winner will advance to play either Ole Miss or Georgia Tech in the Semifinals in Madison Square Garden.

First SBC school since MTSU a few years back to get to the Quarterfinals of the NIT. Blue Raiders also hosted that game, and lost.

And in the future, if Your school doesn't benefit from being a 1 or 2 seed, are you going to come on here and b$&?h that "others were given an unfair advantage?"

UTA already had an advantage going into the tournament, they were a 1 seed with a first round bye. iF they're ALL that, why didn't they win when it mattered?

I don't care what kind of system this conference sets up, it won't guarantee that the Regular season champ always wins the tournament . . Upsets happen.

Unless you wanna just scrap the tournament all together, but I don't see that as a real benefit from the perspective of the NCAA, especially when every other conference of note plays one.

I agree.

I have always assumed the logic behind the conference tournament is that it can give a team that didn't have a great season a back door to the tournament and maybe give your RS champ a shot at an at-large bid.

How'd that work for UT Arlington? Their RPI was higher than multiple teams with at-large bids.

No offense to Troy, but the best team in the Sun Belt is knocking heads in the NIT. Meanwhile, an MTSU team that's not any better gave CUSA their third straight season with an NCAA tournament win even though they've been lower in the RPI as a conference than us the last two seasons.

And for those that don't think UTA would get a higher seed in the NCAAs, just look at teams in conferences lower in the RPI that got higher seeds (the CUSA, SoCon, and Big South for example). The regular-season is what matters, and that's the way it should be.

I don't disagree that the regular season is what matters. But while you're "modifying the conference tournament to ensure "an advantage" to our regular season champ, you better also factor in The NCAA Selection Committees perception of that advantage.

All you may succeed in doing is ensuring that the Sun Belt Champ is relegated to the play in game or a 16 seed. And if you depart too much from what the majority of conferences are doing, you ensure that The Belt continues to be denied the Respect so many of you claim that you crave.

Proof? Especially on the unfair advantage.
