RE: Big Dance
Somebody has a sense of humor. Syracuse's opening round opponent in the NIT is UNC-Greensboro!

Brooklyn's arnea isn't near Times Square. i don't think too many people care much about Brooklyn itself. so that kind of negates your Charleston argument.

let's put it this way. Mary tyler Moore, AMerica's sweetheart, grew up in Brooklyn. SHe said when she was young, her goal was to get the h-- out of Brooklyn. lol

i'm assuming only reason it was in Brooklyn this year is it is cheaper than renting MSG. i think if it is held in NYC, it should only be at MSG because it is in Manhattan. they need to make it conducive to the fact so many of the fans are coming from far away and don't want to spend their time in NYC in brooklyn.

Hey if you want it in Greenville one year instead of Greensboro go for it...tix pricing will firm up...

The only reason the tourney is in Brooklyn is because MSG wasn't available. It had nothing to do with rent. Brooklyn is not as good as midtown...but the league wanted exposure in the northern flank.

You keep talking about $6...that is not unusual for the early games...the crowd looks pretty good early to me. The crowd looked good on Friday and Saturday to me.

RE: Big Dance
the league didn't want exposure, it was about holding the game near fans of the northern ACC teams.

ACC is televised, that is the exposure. it isn't like there are people out there who are unaware of ACC basketball. lol

very few non-ACC team fans attended the tournament in Brooklyn.. you act like everybody in the metro went to the tournament. lol

i don't think Coach K and the other ACC coaches were pushing for the tournament to be held in NYC and i don' tthink it ever was prior to northern teams entering the conference.

cite your source that a ton of non-ACC fans attended. why would they? you would think a person would be at least a casual fan of one of the teams to pay money to attend.

the ACC tournament is, get this, for people who are fans of ACC teams.

Wow! It only took 3 posts for the topic to change to where the ACCT should be held. Isn't that some kind of record??

9 teams in the NCAAT is a record for the ACC...

You guys realize that the NCAA just guaranteed the ACC will receive at least an extra $14.3 million per year for the next 6, right? [link to my calculations, etc.]. And that's if the league gets swept out in the first round - very unlikely.

More likely is the ACC racks up an extra $40 million over the next 6 years* - i.e. an extra Sugar Bowl payout, while the rest of the P5s settle for Orange Bowl payouts (or less). The great equalizer...

* about 25 NCAA credits, or 16 combined wins from 9 teams - same number of units as last year, but with 2 more teams this year.

That is the bottomline...HokieMark.

Glad Cuse and UNC earned max units last year...hoping to see at least 2 F4 teams again.

I feel good about Louisville E8 chances IF the Cards can get past Michigan. They are a hot team right now.

From the ACC:
Quote:The ACC is the winningest conference in NCAA Tournament history with a .662 winning percentage and is the only conference in nation that has not had a losing record in NCAA Tournament play since 1987. League teams set an all-time record last season with 19 NCAA Tournament wins, and the ACC’s combined 36 wins in the 2015 and 2016 tournaments are eight more than the next-closest conference (and two more than any two conferences combined).

Not that it is a guarantee...many times when middling or bubble teams get hot and win their conference tourneys they don't keep the magic in the NCAAs and flameout the first weekend. Louisville will beat Michigan if they meet IMHO.

I'm disappointed, but not surprised or in any way angry. I thought that Syracuse needed to beat Miami to earn a bid and they didn't.

My Hokies have a tough draw as the 9 seed in the East - we'll face 8 seed Wisconsin, and if we get by them we'll match up with Villanova.

Wisconsin will be tough, but I think we have the 3-point shooting to beat them. They'll slow the game down, so getting good shots will be paramount in this matchup. We'll also need to keep Hayes and Happ from pulling down too many offensive rebounds, as this VT is undersized. But if we get hot from deep, watch out.

HB2 just overturned the radical Charlotte ordinance which forced private businesses to allow males with mental illness to use female restrooms. the city of Charlotte never had any legal ground to pass an ordinance like that which doesn't interest lawless liberals like you. i suspect if Greenville passed a law banning abortions, all of a sudden you guys would have an interest in the rule of law.

i'm not going to be going to any of the games in Greenville so what is it that I need to be thankful for. the NCAA isn't cutting checks to residents of Greenville as far as I know. lol

why don't you and other left wingers on here take your politics over to the Daily Kos website. this is a sports forum. it is far left people like that are driving people away from ESPN and sports in general b/c we don't want to listen to you soapbox. you have to politicize everything.

i'm not it sure it is even true these first round games are in Greenville b/c of the HB2 law. if my memory serves, tournament games have been played in Greenville before.

Not the place for partisan rants

Me too...I think we caught a break last year. Just pointing out that politics plays a part in the selection.

BTW, is there a team out there that has more high profile snubs/debates than Cuse?

8/9 is the worst seed in the tourney...guaranteed to meet #1.

Much rather be a 10 or 11 seed...or 6 or 7...
