OK...I got an idea. How about drug testing for coaches? Why can't we know what meds they are on...seems fair if we are going to pay them a million plus a year. lol

While we do not play in the ACC, we are a MAJOR program with more tradition that most P5 schools. And no, I am not arguing we are ahead of the North Carolina's of the world, but we are well ahead of the Texas Techs and Minnesotas, as well as Georgia.

Somehow he appears to have missed that. He was essentially adored for a bit less than what Pastner was crucified for. Ramp it up in all ways Tubby, make these five years great.

Next coach though, yes, without question, an up and comer. An Archie Miller or the like. One who will run through a wall.

We are not a MAJOR program as we like to think.Western Kentucky, Princeton, BYU, Utah , LSU , Wake Forest , Missouri , Iowa are just some of the "powerhouses" that have more sweet 16 visits than Memphis. You have to have an administration to make a hire to relight a fan base that wants to believe we can win like we did under Cal.The pride of those runs is what is missing as a team, fan base, and school.Tubby seems to be a direct correlation of how the administration is right now...apathetic.

This is wrong on so many accounts.

Memphis has 26 tourneys, 11 sweet 16s, three final fours.
Missouri also has 26 ZERO final fours
LSU has 21 tourneys, 9 sweet 16s, 4 final fours
Wake has 22 tourneys, 9 sweet 16s and one final four
Iowa has 25 tourney, 8 sweet 16s and three final fours
Western Kentucky has 23, 7 and one
Princeton 25, 6 and one
BYU has 29, 7 and ZERO

Utah has 29, 16 and four. The only one of the aboveboard with more sweet sixteens, and only one final four was since 1966.

So, arguably, Memphi has better basketball history than all of those schools, although you can push Utah and like to argue guy can push LSU looking solely at the final four numbers, while cleverly ignoring everything else.

We are a major program. Period.

Next time you want to downplay our basketball program's history, at least do a little research and get your facts straight

The only team you listed who's been to more sweet 16s than us is Utah

We've been to 11

WKU...8
Princeton...6
BYU...8
Utah...18
LSU...9
Wake...10
Missouri...7
Iowa...8

lol...good catch. I didn't even look at the list of colleges.

I was reading the last sentence and thinking yep...
we got an apathetic administration when it comes to BB.

And the 'football only' guys are just as bad. lol.

That list isn't even correct

We've been to 26 NCAA Tournaments, not 20

Our record is 34-26

Please tell me you are joking. Please. Because if you are serious I'm not for Saul being the next coach. I hate the sound of that.

The outgoing coach does not get to dictate who the next coach will be. Cal did not even have that kind of pull even though he tied...

The only way Tubby can remotely pull that off is winning back to back National Championships. Even then it would be tough. We just wanna win a meaning game in March.

Maybe some on staff needs to go, and Rudd says to hire a better recruiter.

It's my understanding that his staff is not negotiable. They come and go with him....

It's a mess. That's the only conclusion I can make. It's a big mess
with infighting and disagreement.

How is that? They are his staff he brought with him.

Steve Forbes.

But by the time Tubby leaves it will be too late. I just hope he doesn't end up at UT.

Well if those schools means only two of them, not the majority of which you listed, then by being painfully wrong I guess you were right?

Who should replace Tubby?

I prefer an energetic and media savvy coach who loves and excels at recruiting and program promotion, possesses the willingness to mitigate his weaknesses, and do everything within the rules that advance winning. He (IMO) should run a defense and offense best fitting most Memphis area recruits (i.e., running and pressing like Louisville)

Sounds like the guy we ran off.

Sure...up until "willingness to mitigate his weakness."
