Maybe this helps Birmingham's chances of keeping the tournament.

Birmingham is most likely to get a good crowd for the championship game from a non-UAB crowd than any other C-USA site due to proximity...

Arguments about when the tournament should take place are moot. The league is going to schedule whenever tv tells them to play.

Arguments about New Orleans or Nashville are also moot. the league has looked into NOLA and the Smoothie King Arena (where the Pelicans play) is not available for the money the league is willing to pay and has a pretty full event schedule. The only other major facility is the Lakefront Center ar UNO and the Sun Belt tournament is already locked in there. The SBC league office is in NOLA. Same basic scenario with Nashville as far as the Bridgestone Center (or whatever its called this week).

Shreveport might be a possibility. I would like the league to give it a swing if they so desire and see how it would work. I doubt they will be nearly as happy as they are here.

The rest of the league might not like to hear it, but Birmingham has an excellent infrastructure for hosting these events and does a damn good job of it. I expect to see it here on a regular basis.

Obviously the tournament being played in Bham gives UAB no real advantage so maybe it's best if it goes somewhere else.

The OVC used to play at the municipal auditorium?

I'd be all for that. About a half-mile from where I live.

This was their last year there.

Marshall brought a respectable crowd.

I was disappointed they were very few UAB fans in attendance yesterday. Some of the die hards and that's it.

We play into the medias hands when we don't show up.

Or MTSU & WKU could cohost in Nashville.

Both cities give fans lots more to do, see and places to eat more so than Birmingham, Biloxi or Shreveport.

If UTSA gets it going San Antonio would be nice.

Or Rice hosting in Houston would be good. Just get us out of the rut.

What fans are flocking to the tourney exactly? need to have it in Birmingham where the home team is at least good (hopefully) and can be well attended.

Not many with our choices recently being El Paso or Birmingham . I love my home town, but it's not a vacation spot.

If the destination is attractive, people will come. The tournament was well attended in Memphis and Louisville, of course we had die hard fans from good basketball schools too.

The Sun belt HQ is in the super dome, and the SB plays their championships in New Orleans every other or every third year, yet their closest schools are UL Lafayette and UL Monroe. It would be good for CUSA to get an anchor location like that.

It's not like UAB fans are attending in droves in Birmingham. I could not be more disappointed with our own more than any other fan base.

We've just hit up our people for thousands of dollars apiece to repair Ray Watts' idiocy, and to trust that Fumbles won't spend their money on doughnuts. Asking them to shell out more cash to attend games that don't even include UAB out of program loyalty is a little much. If the AD wants attendance, then they're going to have to convince people that it's a worthwhile expenditure of time and money: tell me to go because I'll have fun, not because I'd be letting down the green and gold otherwise.

MTSU brought a good crowd. Marshall brought a great crowd, considering they're 8+ hours away. Here's a link to a pic of the MTSU side. Wish I'd taken a pic of the Marshall side.

Most TVs views show the stands behind the goals. When the side views were shown the crowd looked good...

Give it to middle since they won both regular seaaon and post and got the only bid. Middle probably would keep it here and sell it out or.

Reward the womens champ.
