Side note: If you haven't caught Longmire, you're missing an excellent series. Western/crime drama set in WY (filmed in NM) based on Craig Johnson's books. (if you're into great acting and that genre). I'm not a big western fan but this one we looked forward to from the first promo and got hooked.

I originally got the trial to watch season 2 of True Detective once I was no longer able to use my brother's subscription. I told myself that I was just going to use the free trial, but deep down I knew that wasn't true...haha

longmire was one reason we got netflix. we also have amazon prime and we use a terrestrial antenna on 2 of our tv's. only sign up for hbo every now and then if they are showing some new series that sounds good to us. mostly go with uverse 300 for our 65" plasma and our patio tv. both are wifi connected. have even thought about going to c-band where you can just sign up for channels ala cart but wife is too impatient to wait for dish to move when changing satellites

Just a curious poll
I've been doing done research on cord cutting and have come been looking at some sites that have been helpful.

http://cordcuttersnews.com/
http://www.channelmaster.com/

Cord cutter news has other links that provide other info for those that are considering cutting the cord.

Channel Master has a dvr setup that will record over the air broadcasts, which is one requirement that my wife and I have.

Hopefully these links help some out. Please share other links. We are probably going to start cutting around May or June and the more info I have the easier the process.

Currently, we have subscriptions to Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu Plus and will seriously consider Sling once the cord is cut.

I just wish Spectrum offered cheaper internet packages, what they have is quite ridiculous. I had AT&T U-Verse, but had too dump it because the service was so unreliable at my house, although my neighbors don't seem to have any problems.

Yup, 6 year contract for all of the actors and they decided to not pursue renewing them all. They start filming S6 on Wednesday. They have hinted about some TV movies or maybe a feature film....we'll see.
Have you read the books?

RE: Just a curious poll
I'm finally getting to the point of at least considering scaling back on my DirecTV package, if not dropping it.

Have to keep my pitiful DSL account w/ BellSouth as the internet options where I live are horrid. Living on the edge of a national forest & wildlife refuge = poor cellular coverage.

Any of you with OTA HD antennas care to share what model ? I'm 50 miles from Atlanta, 25 miles from Macon. Options are limited. Biggest negative is that being located near Plant Scherer means I've got high power transmission lines in between my house and signal origins (in both directions). Only advantages I have are that I live on a ridge and can get line-of-sight signals better than most, and I've got previous antenna installation experience courtesy of Uncle Sam 03-wink Just need to do my research because now that I'm nearing 50 I don't plan on climbing up too many more towers.

This is the one we have. It's 150 mile range but they have one that is 200 mile range.

I'm ok with paying ~$150/month for phone, cable, and internet. But if it goes to $200 then I'm done. When the contract is up I'll probably cut the cord.

The most I have reached is 370 Gb. I use Vue, Nexflix, VUDU with Rolku and OTA TV. Oh....I've rediscovered Pluto TV on roku. They have come along way with channels and its free. Check them out online. Pluto.tv

I live on the eastern edge of ft. worth in hurst and I get good reception and lots of clear channels with one of those antennas that looks like a sheet of paper. I think it is called Leaf . it is just pinned up on the east wall of the room as the big local tv antenna farm is east of me. I think it was 39$. I have read great things about one called the Stealthtenna and I plan to put one of those on the eave of my backyard shop. it is only about 30$. the techie guys I know have told me to stay simple and dont expect those expensive looking elaborate antennas to work any better, just to cost more

My parents had hughesnet for a while they live in a small forest not too far from civilization but internet options are limited and cell phone signal is hard to find because they're a few miles out of town. Hughesnet sucked bad. Theres a 10GB data limit, it's slow, and unreliable although I'm sure you can probably up the limit. Switched to Western Broadband, which unfortunately is probably a regional company, and everything is great. Faster, cheaper, and no limit.

There's a ridge in Southern Georgia? Imagine that....
