Early in the season they couldn't win a close game. Now we wn four in a row during the tournament. What a turnaround.

So proud the Golden Flashes. I don't think I have witnessed such a metamorphosis from the start of the season until now.

Now let's make some noise in the tournament.

Congratulations. Well deserved.

Teams got heart all I can say - shook off those tough losses at home and played defense to make Gary Waters proud - Congrats MAC champs

No way was I expecting this. I wasn't even planning on being in Cleveland last night. Talk about winning at just the right time. MAC Champs!

Tons of great final game photos from David Dermer's Twitter feed. He's a pro sports photographer who does a lot of Kent State and Cleveland sports.

Don't worry. I am not the "I told you so" type of guy. I hope everyone remembers how they feel tonight so that if we get smoked next week you don't want to fire the coach.

RE: Kent State vs. Akron (MAC Championship)
What a game, what a season, what a team. Season starts with the team making national headlines for a cool national anthem display. They get through the non conference schedule pretty well then the wheels fall off when conference play starts. It wasn't really until we got through the easy part of the mac schedule when we finally started winning. Then look at the gauntlet we faced in the mac tournament. Nation's leading scorer, #3 seed and two time defending champ, then #2 seed, finally #1 seed and arch rival. Pretty incredible. All those close losses evidently taught us how to finish games.

It just feels right that Jimmy Hall would go out with a championship. He's too good of a player to not ever play in an NCAA tournament game. Little brother now has some serious bragging rights in the Edwin household. And watching Jaylin Walker over the next 2 years is going to be really fun. The sky is the limit for this kid.

The last calendar year has been a pretty awesome sports year. Cavs break the Cleveland title drought, indians go to the world series, Julian Edelman is a huge part of maybe the best super bowl game ever, and now Kent beats Akron in the MAC championship game.

RE: Kent State vs. Akron (MAC Championship)
This wasn't one of Kent State's better MAC championship teams, but it did do what it had to do, winning 9 of 10, to win it, and that is all that really matters. Years from now, their championship will be in the record books just like the1999, 2001 and 2002 teams and nobody will differentiate among the teams that were champions. They will all be equal - champions that did what was needed to become champions.

It is always sweeter when you're not supposed to win. The 2001 and 2002 teams were clearly the best in the MAC and expected to win. If a month or so ago someone would have put money on Kent State winning, he would be a rich man today. heck, even just five days ago the betting odds were probably huge against Kent State.

A fantastic week!!!! Congrats to all. Don't be surprised if this team makes a little noise in the NCAA dance. I also want to congratulate Kevin Sabo. He made some important baskets this week off the bench that made a difference in the outcome of the games. Well done.

Interesting observation on the tournament. Because of all the parody in the MAC this year we all thought it would be a crazy tournament. There were actually only 3 upsets in the entire tournament. #6 over #3, #6 over #2, and #6 over #1.

Some of this is just a sort of mathematical accident. The women's tournament was odd too. The 1,2 and 3 seed all lost in the quarters and all the rest of tournament went by seed except for 6 over 4 in the championship game. It's just hard to seed teams after only an 18 game unbalanced schedule. Especially since an awful lot of the seeds are determined by tie breakers, which are only slightly better than coin flips.
