Don't recruit going into your first season.
Tank the last month.
Sink those expectations as low as you can.
Recruit a blue collar foundation.
Do the usual 2-3 year rebuild.
Make the tournament in 2020 and have all the sheeple thinking it's a miracle.
Handoff to Saul.
Program tanks.
By 2030, hire Bradley Calipari to coach a team of robotrons to the CBI title.
Stammers comes out of his cave, eyes nearly blinded by the bright light from an asteroid heading toward earth.
The ghost of RC Johnson runs down Beale Street waving the 2008 banner.
Impact.
All that's left in the rubble is discarded sno cone machine.

Zero postseason at Memphis should happen maybe once every 10 years.... That's about it.
It has taken a truly epic and concerted effort by the coaches, staff, and players to make this happen. I didn't think it could be done but they have proven me wrong.
According to Reggie Minton, the NIT selection committee chairman, Memphis wasn't even on the NIT bubble. Let that sink in. First team all-conference player and the ROY and Tubby couldn't even keep his team on the NIT bubble.
Just wow........
Also, in looking at the rosters each inherited I think it's unfortunate but true that Pastner clearly did a better job this year than Tubby.
Now as Paz would tell you, Tubby is a HOF coach who has good players and runs good stuff; but, as it sits right now, Pastner > Tubby, lol
Well, that wraps up another great year of Tiger hoops.
Lawsons aren't Memphis good.
If Dedric was anywhere near as good as his stats he'd be in the league already. Let that sink in.
Two siblings and they still don't know how to perform a simple bounce pass to one another.
Thank your local AAU and their pappy for not instilling the basics into them. Not to mention your star player(s) are soft.

Anybody can put up stats on a terrible or not so good team.

If DL isn't Memphis good then no one on this team is.
Nah, just because he's not NBA good doesn't mean he isn't a heck of a college player.
Most of the big time players hit the AAU circuit. Not sure that's the problem.
I think Gumdrop effed up the program X left him and then Tubby just decided to coast this year for some reason. Even still they were solidly in the NIT until a month ago. Not sure wth happened but something did.
Hell, maybe just go on and finish burning it to the ground and start from scratch with 7-8 freshmen next year and 7-8 freshmen the year after then see what you have when those guys are juniors and sophomores.

Tiger coaches in the past have made the NCAA within two to three years of their hire. There is no need - with the right coach - to light the program-killing fire that burns it to the ground.

UK won the national title one year and failed to make the tournament the next due to injuries.
Basketball went through the same thing football did for a period of time. Too many injuries and people over reacted.
Just as in football went through a period where two times in three years we lost our starting QB and back up to injuries.
We just went through a period between injuries and departures with little experience in key positions

Some might disagree. Tendinitis did seem to wreak havoc on our roster and result in the loss of nearly an entire recruiting class.
