Here's a rough stab at some:
SEC - Football/Baseball
ACC - Basketball/Lacrosse/Baseball
B1G - Football/Hockey(?)
Pac - Swimming
Big XII - Wrestling
Big East - Basketball
I'm most interested in finding hidden gems. For example, are there any conference that are especially (more so than others) into fencing? Skiing? Riding? Field hockey? Soccer? And so on.
Perhaps you can make a case for Big 10 Lacrosse in a few years -- adding Maryland and Johns Hopkins to Penn State and Ohio State helps credibility, and Rutgers is ranked #7 at the moment.
But it's only the eastern schools in the conference that participate.
Rutgers are good at something? Who knew.

Yeah... University of Colorado (on the D1 level) always did well in both downhill and Nordic (cross-country) skiing.
Also in the State of Colorado is Western State College which actually allows you to MAJOR in the subject.
They can't major in skiing at WSCU, they do have a lot of kids who major in Recreation and Outdoor Management or Resort Management, but not skiing. Most students at WSCU major in partying and spending 8 years in school, but skiing as a major? Nope.

I agree. And Ville, as I predicted would kinda be right there with the top of the ACC in football.

WCC has been Soccer. They have several teams playing in the final four.
Recently it seem they are now basketball but still the depth of soccer in the conference is really good.

Guessing SEC and ACC have the best Bass Fishing rankings, but some of the smaller schools are probably good like Murray State?

Temple: I think basketball is the biggest point of pride for Temple fans...it's historically significant program that few others can match.
Rutgers: extracting dollars from Midwestern rubes.

Baseball has long been a point of pride for the Sun Belt. Had a fairly long string of multi-bid years that was broken but with defending champion Coastal Carolina entering lot of hope we get back to that.
Meanwhile at AState we acknowledge the league plays baseball.

For the Big West it is baseball and men's soccer. Especially baseball, where it's arguably a power conference. Cal State Fullerton has four national championships. Long Beach State has multiple College World Series appearances. UC Irvine has a couple and UC Santa Barbara has one.

What school is represented by the green flag with a tree/fern on the left?
Denver was second in x-country, while CU was third.

No, but their coach Troy Percival was the closer for the Angels 2002 World Series winner.

I'd have to add volleyball. On the women's side Hawaii and Long Beach State have won seven national championships between them. On the men's side UC Irvine, Hawaii and Long Beach State have won a total of six national titles (with all four of UCI's coming over the past ten years).* Currently Long Beach State and Hawaii are ranked #1 and #4 respectively in men's volleyball, and in beach volleyball Hawaii is currently ranked #4 and Long Beach State #6 nationally.
*Technically these schools play men's volleyball in the MPSF but that will change next season when the Big West begins sponsoring the sport.

Going to nit-pick ;; Rutgers == singular, not plural. We're named after a gentleman and benefactor whose name ended in "s". So your sabre-rattling should properly be "Rutgers IS good at something? Who knew" :-)
We're ranked in wrestling too.
We're named after a donor since 1825, so we might have started that trend.

Drone: they certainly seem to be the first non-Ivy so named. Commodore Vanderbilt was a little later, and Ezra Cornell after the Civil War.

Thanks. Seen it before but thought it was Evergreen St or a smaller Washington school. Recognized Northern Michigan, apparently fourth, and NMU only has nordic skiing, not alpine.
