Exclamation What is your favorite football play?
Offense - flanker reverse pass to the QB. I don't know why.
Defense - Tackle in the end zone for a safety.

The triple option out of the flexbone. It's a thing of beauty.

Or just about anything run out of the straight T or the Marlyand I formation.

For my team, the victory formation.

I love the pass to the WR who then throws a bomb.

Yup. When properly run it's both poetry in motion and almost impossible to stop.

You get a seal HERE, and a seal HERE, and you run it in the ALLEY. (One of my favorite pieces of sports footage)

On defense, I love the prevent formation, especially defenses that still know how to KNOCK IT DOWN, a lost art these days. I've never seen so many Hail Marys get caught as get converted these days.

My brother, a former receiver in SEC, said they design complex Hail Marys to beat the coverage but even still, they should be knocked down way more often than the current trends.

Mine too! of course the actually play is called Fumblerooski. Not as dramatic as they portrayed in Little Giants but still got a touchdown out of it.

Not just one play but probably one of the best college games I've seen. Boise did a number of "trick plays" to win this game.

2007 Fiesta Bowl. Boise States vs. OU.

RE: What is your favorite football play?
It has to be the victory formation. It's cruel, it demoralizes the opposition, pleases the fan base, and is the culmination of a great game plan.

All the plays that were mentioned are fun to watch. But none of them means a danged thing unless the final play is as I described.

Mine, too. What I hate is when someone like Merrill Hoge tries to say it like Lombardi did. I don't need them to do a damn impression of the man. Just give us your analysis, damn it! 03-banghead

Not really related to this discussion but I used to serve as a director on the Hoge/Lake golf tournament Merrill Hoge ran with Carnell Lake and I have to tell you they are two of the nicest people, much less professional athletes, I have ever been around. It's literally impossible to dislike Merrill Hoge. He's just a great guy from Idaho.
