2017-18 CAA Basketball
Who will be the preseason favorite next year in the CAA

Charleston returns their entire starting five.
UNCW loses three starters, but keeps Cacok and Bryce
Towson loses Davis
We lose Dixon and Omar
Elon returns their entire starting five
Northeastern loses T.J.
JMU loses practically everybody
Hofstra loses Bernardi
Delaware loses Harris
Drexel loses Rodney

Gotta think Charleston will be preseason #1 next year, right?
UNCW #2?
Elon #3?
Hofstra #4?
Tribe #5?
Towson #6?
Northeastern #7?
Delaware #8?
Drexel #9?
JMU 10?

Whatcha think?

Rankings look good for the most part.

1 - C of C
2 - UNCW
3 - Hofstra (torn on this. talent is high, but Mihalich coaching them will probably have them finish 6th)
4 - Elon
5 - Towson
6 - W&M
7 - Northeastern
8 - Delaware
9 - JMU
10 - Drexel

This will be the first season in a while where I haven't been confident that W&M will have at least a solid season. Still think Pierce is another year away, and don't think there are enough perimeter players to trust to provide enough offense for our terrible defense, which will get even worse now that the best perimeter defender in Dixon and arguably the best rebounder in Prewitt both graduated

CofC should be the preseason favorite. I can tell you that our athletic department feels we could be better than this year. Cacock, Bryce and Talley all return. We have a recruiting class ranked #1 coming in, with every player at least 6'5" including two 6'8" forwards. Won't know until we hit the court, but don't count us out due to graduation.

They have Clayton Hughes coming in who was one of my favorite Tribe targets last year before prep school. Keats is a fantastic recruiter.

Delaware will be more improved than 8th place.

Towson loses more than Davis. I see them slipping.

UNCW will likely have a new coach and lose three starters, I think they are mid pack at best.

Towson also loses Adala Moto and Northeastern loses Murphy.

Right now it looks like Charleston will be big time favorites. I'm not at all sold on Elon being better next year. I don't see any upside in their current players. Maybe a couple big time freshmen come in.

The big wild card to me is what teams get fifth year transfers or lose them.
