You insinuate that there was a football player jumped by some guys from PIKE.

Is that what happened?

RE: Ruh Roh
A couple of things:

1. If the players were assaulted prior to this incident, why didn't they pursue charges? I know they claim they talked to a cop who wouldn't investigate but if it was as severe as they claim, why not go to the police station?

2. The attorney for the players continually references the fact that the alumnus that was assaulted "leaked" info, talked to the media, etc. Does that even matter? He has the right to do that if he chooses. Their attorney made it out that he was doing something criminal.

3. I was in my fair share of fights in college, believe me. So I know how these situations work. That being said, I wasn't a SA and wasn't having my school paid for. The players going over there was premeditated and shows, IMO, that they didn't care about the repercussions of their actions.

4. I don't doubt the possibility that the altercation that the players claim took place but the fact is that there is no record of it. If there had been documentation and charges filed it wouldn't bother me.

Sounds like much to do about nothing...College kids got into a fight, no one was seriously hurt, move on....That happens across college campuses I am sure all the time...GIve them community service hours to complete, some anger management classes and move on...I am sure most of these kids will learn their lesson...

Where did I say that nothing should be done? Once all the facts are sorted out and if weapons were involved they should be kicked off the team out of school and held to the same legal standard as any citizen. You are putting words in my mouth. The original poster acted like just because it happened at WKU it was not a shock.

Whoa if you are referring to me then that's not what i meant to say. I had my fair share of dumb things when i am student and i am not shocked because of all the stupid things that students do these days this is on the lower side of the stupidometer. Frankly this fades in comparison to what happened at some other schools not in our conference. So don't go putting your words in my mouth. If they go unpunished then its a totally different story.

Being stupid is on thing, but violence and causing injury is another. I hope that the story is wrong and it was just a prank of some sort without violence or personal injury.

When I was at Tech I lived in the jock dorm, though I didn't play sports other than intramural, some freshmen were also assigned there. The KA house was across the street on the edge of the campus and some from the dorm, Hutcheson, used the KAs cannon and shot the front door of the frat house. That is a prank. Hopefully, this sort of thing is all that is involved here.

Because both the program and the fraternity have been in communication about the incident and both parties agreed to let it go and move on. This guy is 30-plus years old, still hanging around the frat house and using it as a total publicity move. The frat has been trying to get him to stop and let it go.

I thought he was Sigma Nu, but he was a few behind me, though we graduated from the same high school. I was TKE and we had a running feud with the Pikes. A couple times we took the distributor cap off their fire truck and buried it in their front yard. We left clues as to where it could be found, but it still took some digging.

I don't think TKE even has a chapter at Tech any more, but at the time we had a big chapter. I don't know the circumstances of why there isn't a chapter at Tech anymore, but I could guess. We had some "good and fun" actives during my time. Bradshaw was a TKE before my time. Also, Buster Herren and the tight end, whose name I forget were also TKEs. At least, that was the story I was told.

Eh, it was PIKE. I think everyone is okay with it

Semi-Related, our PIKE got kicked off a few years back for stealing a flamingo from the local zoo. Resulted in the death of two flamingos.

Who got their old house?

The reason WKU players agreed not to press charges against the Pike members following the incident was that both parties had agreed to let things go. However this dude in his mid 30's refuses to let it go. He has something personal against the football team apparently. Back a few years ago when Linebacker Nick Holt was arrested for public intoxication. This Mr Armfield character was the "security" and "nearly had to pepper spray" Nick Holt according to his statement. Which caused that situation to also get out of hand. This guy has a history with going after the football players.

What does that have to do with anything? Does that automatically excuse this incident? Did not many here say the kid was and was going to be trouble? How does our past situation negate this situation?

The whole problem is, this stuff goes on everywhere and people dismiss it because it's become the norm. Frankly, these kids are in college to help win football games. If they weren't that talented they'd be working at McDonalds because they sure as hell couldnt cut it as a normal student.

yes that is how it is interpreted, however this guy was at the "party" the night before when Obee was jumped and sucker punched by members of pike. Not everything gets reported in the news and sometimes things are made to sound better then they are.

I am an author of the written word on a public forum (i.e. message board poster). See how that works. This guy still goes to frat parties and gets drunk with the college kids.

Look I am not excusing the incident at all. Simply saying that Pike and this guy instigated the whole incident to begin with. Pike and WKU football players agreed to call a truce and neither side file charges on both nights incidents. However, this guy refuses to let it go despite everyone else willing to let bygones be bygones.

Sorry but that wasn't a fight. A fight is one on one. ******* fight multiple guys against one. I don't care what the situation was prior.

Jumped/assaulted choose your word it means the same, here.

Quote:Lowder said the previous night two WKU football players were assaulted at the PIKE house – one was repeatedly called racial slurs – and those two players later encountered a WKU police officer who did not further investigate that incident, provoking the Western Kentucky players to take matters into their own hands.

Lowder said when players arrived at the PIKE house the following night, Armfield was contacted as the chapter's security point man, but chose not to notify authorities and instead attempted to handle the matter in his own way.

At no point in time have we heard him state that there should be any sort of accountability for the PIKEs for the incident the night before. [/u]

This guy is a *****, like the Pikes in that house. They jump people all the time at parties they throw.. And yes, THEY, not just one on one. If you fight one of them his brothers join in. They did it the night before. But they acted like *****'s on this night and called their daddy figure instead of coming outside and handling their own ****. BTW, if we want to use words like alleged for the night before...these players are also "alleged"

This kind of **** happens every week on most campuses but usually it's the other way around. A poor drunk guy gets his ass beat at parties these fraternities throw. It's almost never " one on one". Just as with this group of players...

fraternity brothers join in on the beating. Then they cover it up. The difference is...the one taking the ass whooping must be a bigger man than this Pike. What the players did was not right but it takes a real ***** to go press charges in a college fight. Unless there was more damage than a freaking black eye. Those boys in that house knew why those players were there that night....

they hid in that house when the odds were more even. Like little girls, or *****'s and let their their "daddy" who was already there go outside.

I don't want Baker kicked off the team. He's in a great position to break Leon Allen's "Most Arrested Hilltopper" record. If Allen can avoid arrest this year Baker may overtake him by early 2018.
