All four of our coaches also got Coach of the Year for their sport in the Big Sky, so a double grand slam for UND.

Know this is not a big national story, but UND has won the regular season championships of fb, vb, mbb, and wbb, the main spectators sports in the Big Sky, all in this school year. That hasn't been done in Big Sky history, even when Boise St, Nevada, and Idaho were members. Granted, shared the fb title with E Wash and share wbb with Montana St and those UND teams weren't dominating games except vb.

Would think that Florida, Ohio St, Oklahoma, UCLA, and maybe N Carolina and Louisville have done something similar. Feel free to substitute another sport like baseball for vb.

Those four sports aren't even UND's main revenue sport, which is the reigning national championship hockey team. Many of those teams are sophomore dominated, so we should be dominant for some more years at the mid-major level.

SU went undefeated in FB in '87, while making NCAAT Championship game, and (I may be off by a year on this one) won the NC in MLax. That's very close to a clean sweep of SU's big 3 sports. We were Indy in FB and lax that year, and I don't think that we won the BE bball.

On May 27, 2014, UW-Whitewater made history as the first NCAA institution in any division to win national championships in men's football, basketball, and baseball in a single academic year. It also won the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Division III title in 2014. In 2014, the slacker team, Woman's bball, won the regular season conference championship, lost in the final of the conference tournament, went to the Final Four but lost it's first game. It came back to win the 3rd place game, though. I would imagine, there is no school at any division, including NAIA, that had this much success in one year.

In the Big Ten, the main sports on the men's side are unquestionably football, basketball, hockey, and wrestling.

Soccer, lacrosse, and baseball just don't cut it, in terms of attendance, fan/booster support & passion, and national relevance. And the rest are olympics, which are what they are.

So given that ... what a year for Wisconsin and Penn State!

- Football championship game
- Wisconsin just upset the #1 seed and defending national champ in March Madness
- Penn St just won the BT hockey tournament, over Wisconsin
- Penn St just crushed everyone in wrestling, again
