Having Illinois and Indiana on the market in the same year will be very interesting. Wonder where Crean will land now that Missouri's booked (the flagships of 3 states that all border each other).

Maybe Illinois should hire Crean.

Illinois tried to get Crean when he was still at Marquette.

Crean probably has lots of options from Washington to LSU to NC state, where does he want to live?

Illinois tried to get Crean when he was still at Marquette.

There were only two jobs that Crean legitimately pursued while at Marquette. One was obviously Indiana. The other was Kansas. Other schools pursued Crean while he was at Marquette, but those two were the only ones he was intrigued by and listened to.

I guess that he sits out next year, collecting his $4 million buyout, does some broadcasting work, watches Jim absolutely destroy Indiana in the Fall - laughing hysterically and weirdly on the sideline, and then looks at other jobs next offseason.

His stock will most likely be higher after a year out of coaching, and he can spend time away from the game and with family. If a place like DePaul, Pittsburgh, Memphis, Boston College, Cincinnati or other big city, Midwest/East Coast job became open next year, he would be the top target - and would probably get even more money by waiting out a year.

He's a Midwestern guy. I don't see him headed out west or down south.

Well, he won't be going to NC State, who just hired Kevin Keatts from UNC Wilmington.

So ... Jim Harbaugh, unsurprisingly, has an entertaining take on the firing of his brother-in-law:

http://www.si.com/college-basketball/201...n-harbaugh
Quote:Jim Harbaugh looks at Crean’s Indiana tenure and says, “much like my situation in San Francisco, the people that are doing the micromanaging … when it comes to building a ball team, what they know could not blow up a small balloon. In my case, an owner and a general manager. In his case, an administration. They are so similar in that way. And he still wins two Big Ten championships outright.”

I do too, but I remember UNCW had a pretty good coach before that went to Wright State and crashed out. We shall see if this is more of a program>coach thing.

Tom crean buyout is 1.3 million per year for the next 3 years that is offset if he gets a job that pays more. Thus, IU would owe him nothing if he lands another big job right now. He could sit out and take the year but that probably cost him at least 1 million or more depending on his contract. I could see him go to Washington or LSU and do well. Dayton might be also open and be a good fit

Wedge

Can you either underline or bold each school's name so it is easier to read the list?

Thanks
