Looks pretty dusty. Wonder how many skin cells I left back in there during the late nineties when they used to roll back the bleachers and have open gym?

So, is it considered impressive or skilled to conduct an interview without posing a single question, but instead just stating an observation and then flipping the microphone to the person you're interviewing? He does it in all the baseball videos too. Zero questions.

I think this technique was stolen from Chirs Farley. BTW Dave Laphem loves these kind of "questions". He makes a ton of observations then asks the interviewee what he thinks about that.

He did ask 1 question at the end....I'm shocked.

Not a fan of the guy's voice either. Way too nasily.

As a high school sportswriter, I have found lots of reporters who do not ask questions, but just say "Talk about ..."

Not totally innocent myself, as I have one coach who never wanted to answer questions anyway, so I just put the recorder up to him and he gives a quick (and good) statement or two that he would have made no matter what the question was anyway. Saves us both time and effort.

Sounds similar to 90% interviews I hear locally and nationally. Product of the times.

Maybe I missed the announcement. Does anyone know what UC will be doing with the old chairs and signage around the arena? Will there be a sale or auction?

I'd expect some announcements between now and the spring game.

I found myself falling into that habit when I covered UC baseball and made it a point to ask questions instead of just saying "talk about..."

I sometimes use that tactic in depositions when I have a witness who thinks they're the smartest person in the room and likes to hear themselves talk.

To be fair, these things aren't so much an "interview" as a construction update. The goal is really for the Project Manager to display what's going on, not to probe or ask revealing questions.

But yeah... The style is so different than Tommy G.

RE: 5/3 Demo/Reno
I love in the video how among all the rubble and destruction. The tube TV is still up in it's place. (approx 1:01-1:08)

Maybe they can preserve that and showcase it in the new arena as an historical artifact, so when people are going through the arena in 2030, they can see the technology the arena had in 1989 ...and in 2017 unfortunately

No, they should sell all of them to Mike Brown. He must be out of old motels to source replacements for PBS.

Great - it's only a matter of time before the anti-FC Cincinnati faction starts spreading rumors about how the old 5/3 Arena center court display is being repurposed by "Prince Lindner" as the "new" scoreboard at Nippert to come in the near future.

Yeah I heard they were going to make a "cutout" in section 103 so FC Cincinnati can get in a little footwork during those long Winter months...
