Maybe we should move on from Beran.

His top six if anyone is curious: Bucknell, George Mason, Liberty, Loyola (MD), Mount St. Mary’s & Siena.

Twitter is not always an accurate predictor but Oduro didn’t follow back Austin Shaver or Samantha Huge after he was offered so I never felt like he was as interested in the Tribe as he was in other schools.

Bucknell having a banner summer for big man recruits with two commits already who we were interested in, and in the running still for two more we offered or had interest in. What are they selling that we don't have?

VC lists Montana State, San Diego, and San Francisco as his current offers.

I'm asking the same question here. This is NOT a strong bunch (other than GMU...and Bucknell again.) How did we not make THIS Top 6?

The Mount and Siena is interesting. I'd imagine there's a chance Jamion Christian connected with him before his move to Siena earlier this year.

RE: 2019 Men's Basketball Recruiting
Both Loyola and Mt. St. Mary's hired assistants this summer from Oduro's AAU program. No doubt Jamion has been involved for awhile, and he offered when Oduro was on an unofficial to Siena mid-summer. Liberty has it's unique appeal to kids that find that faith structure important. GMU player alums have been connected to him for sometime, so, totally expected as the backyard school. Keep in mind that JMU, Towson and Elon did not make the cut, either, and the former two had been involved for awhile.

Bucknell is the program that still leaves me scratching my head, since we would be happy with any of their two big man commits and the other two they are still in play with. I know they can offer instant playing time in two years, but still ???

Would we be happy with either of the Bucknell big commits? Perhaps eventually we would. The coaches didn't offer either because they like the guys they offered more. Tribe had interest, but they were probably priority recruits for Bucknell. If we strike out on all the kids that we rate higher, than perhaps Bucknell out recruited us. If a Cozart, Fiedler, or Beran commit here, we won't care about who Bucknell got.

Look. I've seen Oduro. I see a low D1 practice player. It's not a loss. I was shocked some of these schools offered him.

If he wants to see the court then maybe Liberty or Mount. Dude is 6'7 max. Other heights included hair I guess.

Beran, NO CHANCE. Remove the name from your memory.

You are likely correct. However, until he pares down his list, Beran is an active offered recruit.

RE: 2019 Men's Basketball Recruiting
Robbie Beran's mother liked the Tribe Athletics tweet about Jimmye on Monday, so, there is still some family attention being paid to what's going on in the 'Burg.

I have a big bias here because Robbie plays his HS ball for where I played my bball a long time ago. He transferred in late from public schools, as I did. I'm sure he will embrace his senior year as captain, as I did. Last year they had the best school record in 45 years. It wasn't 46 years because that was my senior year. Remains to be seen if he'll best that. I know Tony has been involved long before we offered, and I know the quality mindset of the school and his peers.

It would take a rare mindset to not succumb to all of the big program attention and potential, and rightfully so. I won't bet my marbles (because I don't have many anyway), but until it's official, I'll keep that thread intact.

I was set to go to GA Tech for engineering, but found I couldn't afford it. I was then headed for VA Tech engineering, until my point guard told me I needed to go to W&M because I'd have more social life. LOL. I bought in sight unseen, and despite the foolery, it was the best decision of my life. I can't share commonalities and insights with Robbie because of potential recruiting violations, but I would hope coaching staff quality/security, being close to home but just far enough away, the chance to be part of a pending program breakthrough, but more importantly, this being one of the truly best places in the country to spend four years and learn while still pursuing any professional dreams, would find a way to resonate through all of the noise. If you're reading, Robbie, give it your consideration. There was a reason you were the only offer Tony put out there early on. I'm glad I made that decision.
