Plenty of firewood here in Makanda, Frog. Even better, it's not laying all over the roads. :D
Would you believe the barn only has one window AC unit? And we leave it off half the time? This weather rocks!

Hey NPR, did you see the irony in the article on the same page of that picture, Memphis Power and Light needing a loan to repair lines and such. Yep, better get that firewood, might also need it to read at night.

I have plenty on our farm but I imagine there are lots of folks that will take them up on the free firewood. I'm sure they are hoping folks will turn out to help clean everything up.
I bet ya'll are having some nice weather JBR. Bet it gets "nipply" at night. :D

Memphis Light, Gas and Water is a city owned utility. They'll get their loan! Probably from the city! LOL!! This has happened before and will happen again.
The sad thing is that no one at MLGW or anyone on the city council has the foresight to start a ten year program to begin putting the electric lines underground in the older more vunerable parts of the city that have gigantic and very old trees. They'd save a bunch of money in the long run and not have the citizens up in arms!
I've been lucky so far! The ice storm of '74 didn't affect my power at all, the ice storm of '94 cut my power off for an hour and this latest storm cut my power off from 6 AM the day of the storm to 9:30 that evening. We still have about 6,000 still without power!
At least we can pay all our utilities with one check and one stamp!
