RE: Women's college basketball
I confess that I was one of the millions of people who watched UConn's women win their 100th consecutive game. But that was the only reason I watched - to see history being made. I may even watch the NCAA final, if UConn is in it, for a similar reason.

But as for interest in the game itself, I really don't have any. I would just as soon watch paint dry. Some of the players might be good athletes, but there is nothing about the game that would showcase that. By contrast, WVB does a good job of showcasing athleticism, which makes it watchable for me.

Other team championships[edit]
Below are 4 national team titles that were not bestowed by the NCAA:

Men's:
Football: 1917, 1928, 1952, 1990[23]

The NCAA doesn't recognize football championships. They don't even recognize the champion of the current CFP. So Wikipedia equally claims OU's 7 titles aren't NCAA recognized.
LOL. No. Here are a couple of examples.

1990 GT was a UPI championship, not AP.Colorado was champ.
1990 Colorado 11–1–1 Bill McCartney AP, B(QPRS), BR, CFRA, DeS, FN, FWAA, MGR, NCF, NFF, R(FACT), SN, USAT/CNN
Georgia Tech 11–0–1 Bobby Ross DuS, NCF, R(FACT), SR, UPI
Miami (FL) 10–2 Dennis Erickson ERS, NYT, R(FACT), SR
Washington 10–2 Don James R(FACT)

1952, Michigan State was the ap champion
1952 Georgia Tech 12–0 Bobby Dodd B(QPRS), BR, INS, PS, SR
Michigan State 9–0 Biggie Munn AP, BS, CFRA, DeS, DuS, HAF, L, NCF, SR, UP, WS

ITT: Sooner fan does Bama fan impression on polls and titles.

Also, if you think Colorado was the more worthy NC in '90 with a loss, a tie, a loss that got a 5th down to become a win, and a loss that needed phantom clipping on The Rocket to become a win ... well ... bless your little heart.

Georgia Tech got screwed out of the 1990 National Title. What the heck were the voters doing that 11-1-1 with a literal 5th down win outweighed 11-0-1?

In 1990, ACC football was viewed skeptically by voters as being weaker than the other power conferences like the Big 8. It was not unlike the handicap schools like Boise State have since experienced in the polls. Had FSU not joined the conference, the ACC likely would have been excluded as a Bowl Coalition (later BCS) AQ conference.

Thank you for that mention. One of the worst officiating con jobs in my lifetime.

There was no clip at all.

The refs wiped out a 91 yard punt return TD with almost no time left by the Rocket to award the championship to Colorado.

That wiped out one of the most exciting plays ever and saved the Colorado coach's job for being stupid enough to punt it right to the Rocket in that situation, with something like 9 seconds left in the game.

RE: Women's college basketball
My daughter played college ball. Once you understand the nuances of the women's game, you can learn to enjoy it. Personally I don't find women's basketball anymore unwatchable than bad men's basketball. Bad basketball is bad basketball, doesn't matter whose playing it.
