They do seem to be running our playbook from the last couple of years. We pulled the big upset in the NCAA tournament against Iowa State two years ago. The next year we blew through the CUSA regular season, only to slip up in the conference tournament.

They pulled the big upset last year against Michigan State and blew through the conference regular season this year.

Only difference is they probably don't need to win the tournament to get in the Dance.

Because we all know a Home Loss to Tennessee St. is going to pass the "Eye Test". 05-stirthepot

We thought to same thing last year, BTW.

I'm not sure anyone thought UAB would get an at large last year. MTSU has an RPI in the 20s. We didn't finish in the top 50 last year. If I remember correctly we were close to 100.

Tennessee state is also a good team this year... A home loss to them isn't terrible, especially if you only have 5 total losses on selection Sunday.

There was NO way UAB was getting an at large last year with our resume.

There are some similarities in the broad paths our seasons took/are taking, but their numbers and wins are MUCH better

yes but if they don't win the conference tournament, that means they have a BAD loss late, which affects their RPI and probably would keep them out unfortunately.

if not, then the entire conference should be hoping they lose so we can get 2 bids to the dance.

Tennessee State is a very good team. Seen them play twice.

MTSU has a better resume than we did last year. If they make it to Saturday and lose I think they slide in. If they lose in the quarters they might not make it.

And their coach will probably get an offer to move on after this season.

Bring it on! We can be the first 16 seed to topple a 1. It's going to happen sooner or later.

Maybe we can be the first 17 seed? If we win we might be the worst team to ever make the tournament in the history of basketball lol

Already being mentioned for LSU and NC State

I agree. I don't think they get in without it. There really isn't a good loss in the conference at any point that they can take.

Our RPI finished at 81.

When was the last time a CUSA team had an at-large worthy resume, lost in the tourney, and got left out? We made it in under those exact circumstances in 2011. I can't think of any other teams left out under similar circumstances in the last few years.

TN state is a good team this year. Losing to them at home doesn't hurt MTSU that much. I think they'd still slide in with a loss in the CUSA finals.

No way UAB was making it in as an at large last year. We lost all the chances for any signature wins we had. That team was just as soft as it is this year, outside of Robert brown.

Southern miss was after us. The problem today is the conference offers nothing. Monmouth was left out with all those road wins last year, what's mtsu got that tops that?
