Didn't he lose his starting role right after the ODU game? I think so, so it probably doesn't hurt the Charlotte football team all that much.

He's likely done here, a kid that couldn't stay out of trouble no matter where he was. Had all the opportunity in the world. And yes, he did lose his job, because Klugh played much better than him.

I seem to remember cautioning 49er fans about this guy ... It seems that, unfortunately, my concerns were valid. Sorry to see this story pop up, especially for the young woman (women?) he hurt. He was a walking disaster at Miami; I had seen him once or twice out and about before he'd been removed, and he was high (in outer space) both times. I think he has problems; well, that much should be obvious; ... hope he is stopped before hurting anyone else, none of that '3 months probation for rape' nonsense ...

Olsen hasn't taken more than a couple of snaps for us since the second game last season, and was not going to see the field in the upcoming season. I really thought he might find his way back to a JC or Div II team that would let him play his final year, but it looks like he is probably done.

His history has been that of a young punk that always made the bad decision when given a choice, but like most people I hoped he would grow up and get on track. His mom, dad, and oldest brother have all moved to Charlotte where older brother Greg plays for the Panthers. It really seemed like he had the support system in place to help him, but clearly it has not worked. We have to let the judicial process run its course, but the big loser here is Olsen. Charlotte had moved on long ago.

I think all 49er fans knew the risks of bringing Olsen in. Programs like us have to take chances on guys like this sometimes. I'm fine with it. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. Unfortunately, it didn't work out. It wasn't working out even before he was arrested.

Give me a break with this "I told you so" attitude.

Sure, we have to take chances.
But, in the end, how much responsibility do we bear for the plights of the victims?

Seems odd that Marshall fans would be scolding other teams about the type of kids they bring in.

Yeah, the previous comment was very blase. It reads baylorish...

Except for the fact that a rape occurred so that the football team could take that "chance". I realize that's not what was meant and I know we can't see in to the future and the whole 2nd chances thing (the guy had gotten more chances than that) but at the end of the day you would hope that there would be a revaluation of the process and decision making that brought that guy into the program and community in the first place.

If the only trouble he got into at Miami was the DUI and fake ID, can you really blame Charlotte that much for taking him?

WTF was Charlotte's coach thinking. I am all for second chances, but in reading that I saw where this thug had been kicked off of two teams. I would think that Charlotte and the football team are going to be settling a law suit soon by the poor woman attacked here. To put a two time loser thug on that campus puts the university and football program liable for his criminal actions in my opinion.

Yep. We all take chances on kids. Sometimes they don't learn. We know this all too well. But it's about these kids taking responsibility and making the most of that second chance. If they are too stupid to understand that - SEE YA!
