The idea was likely concocted by a bunch of snowflakes who then convinced a bunch of likely hard working decent people to make a poor decision.... and the snowflakes just shrug and walk away while these people pay the price.

Don't get me wrong... These people screwed up and bear the burden of their actions... but I doubt most of them would have done it if they hadn't been encouraged to do it.

They should have been mentally stronger.
exactly.

More job hunters...

At Least 60 People In 5 States Lost Their Jobs After Participating In “Day Without Immigrants”

Quote:In at least five states, roughly 60 people lost their jobs this week after they skipped work to participate in the “Day Without Immigrants” protest on Thursday, according to local media reports.

The protest, which was aimed at highlighting the importance of immigrants to the U.S. economy, called on all immigrants to not work or buy anything Thursday and succeeding in shutting down businesses across the country, according to CNN. It is unclear, however, how many people participated in the strike, according to ABC News.

Still, around five dozen people say their participation in the protest cost them their employment as businesses fired them for not showing up to work.

In Tulsa, Oklahoma, 12 Latino workers at the I Don’t Car Bar and Grill told KTUL that they were fired over text message because they did not show up for their scheduled shift and did not call in.

“You and your family are fired. I hope you enjoyed your day off, and you can enjoy many more. Love you,” the restaurant owner texted one employee, according to screenshots provided to the station.

The employees told KTUL that while they expected to be reprimanded for missing work, they did not expect to be fired. However, the owner maintained the move was not political and was simply the result of the bar’s strict “no show/no call policy.” The owner also told KTUL has fired others recently for the same offense. Tulsa Public Radio reports that the restaurant has already started looking for new workers.

In King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, six workers at Bahama Breeze restaurant were barred from entering the building on Friday after missing work Thursday, a local activist told the Philadelphia Inquirer. As in Tulsa, none of the workers told their boss they would be missing work.

The activist later said all the employees had been rehired after people called the restaurant to complain.

Don't disagree with the 'mentally stronger' comment... but I know that our society has convinced lots of people especially the young that civil disobedience carries fame more than consequence. I hope millions learn from these few.

Another problem is when they equate this move to civil disobedience. Its not. Its screwing over the company who is attempting to keep you employed and with a paycheck in hand. Many of these companies are owned by immigrants themselves. But dont let that keep them from cutting of their nose to spite their face.

It also screws over the customers who utilized the company made up of immigrant employees by causing service deadlines to be missed. The end result? They will take their business elsewhere where there isnt exposure to immigrants walking off the job because they are butthurt. And thats not exactly what the organizers of this were hoping for. But it is what the consequences of this leads to.

If you want to attend an immigrant protest in your off-time, go right ahead. If you want to f*ck up my schedule by not having the work you were supposed to have done completed because you are butthurt and dont want to show up one day, well then, I'll take my business elsewhere where the exposure to immigrants walking off the job isnt a problem.

Look, if they don't understand that laying out of work risks unemployment then they deserve whatever happens.

They made the choice, Ham...

But I don't agree with the owner who sent out the 'firing" via text message. Do it face-to-face, if you're going to do it..

But if the company you work for has a no-show/no-call-you're fired policy... you're just SOL.

Hood and Saint...

I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm just bothered by the fact that their instigators don't pay any price. These people are useful idiots. I'm not saying they don't deserve what they get at all... I just wish they/we could/would sue the people who encouraged them. Make them cover some portion of the unemployment benefits or whatever.
