WBB Game 26, Con Game 15: ODU 14-11 (9-5) @ Marshall 10-13 (4-10)
The LM will close out the month of Feb on the road. I thought that Feb would be a make or break month for the team based on the schedule. So far, with a 4-1 record in Feb the team has done well.

WKU 12-2 vs Charlotte
Middle Tennessee 12-3 (not playing)
Southern Miss 10-5 vs Rice
La Tech 10-5 vs North Texas
Charlotte 9-5 @ WKU
ODU 9-5 @ Marshall

If WKU beats the 49ers at home, ODU will be in sole possession of 5th place. To really make things interesting we would need Rice or North Texas to pull up an upset on the road.

A look at the Thundering Herd's Schedule since they lost 73-69 at the Ted. Overall record: 10-13 (4-10) RPI: 253 SOS Rank: 271.
@ Charlotte L 93-77 Record: 17-8 (9-5) RPI: 114
Vs Middle Tennessee L 72-63 Record: 17-9 (12-3) RPI: 76
Vs UAB W 61-58 Record: 12-13 (6-9) RPI: 185
@ WKU L 73-57 Record: 20-6 (12-2) RPI: 57
@ UTSA W 88-81 Record: 10-13 (7-7) RPI: 188
@ UTEP L 84-74 Record: 5-20 (3-11) RPI: 301
Vs Southern Miss L 82-78 Record: 17-9 (10-5) RPI: 126
Vs La Tech L 72-54 Record: 14-11 (10-5) RPI: 162
Vs WKU L 78-64
@ UAB L 71-55
@ Middle Tennessee L 94-69
Vs ODU Record: 14-11 RPI: 123

If you look at just confernce only stats, only one team in the conference has attempted more threes than Marshall (Middle Tennessee). 43.5% of the team's overall shots have been three point attempts.

Inside the numbers for Marshall (conference only)
PPG.........68.2 (ranks 8th in conference)
OPPG......74.0 (ranks 11th in conference)
FG%........42.4 (ranks 9th in conference)
OFG%......43.1 (ranks 10th in conference)
3P%........32.8 (ranks 7th in conference)
O3P%.....34.2 (ranks 11th in conference)
3PPG......8.3 (tied for 1st in confernce)

Simms Watch. The last time Simms played Marshall at the Ted she scored 43. She averages 25.3 ppg. As you can tell below, 23 points will tie 2,000 points for her career in a LM uniform. (ODU won't count her points at WKU to her career totals) It's an impressive achievement.

5. Celeste HIll (1990-94): 2,112
6. Tracy Claxton (1980-85); 1,999
7. Jennie Simms (2012- now): 1977

RE: WBB Game 26, Con Game 15: ODU 14-11 (9-5) @ Marshall 10-13 (4-10)
Final Score. ODU 94. Marshall 85.

Simms finishes the game with 33 points, 7 boards, and 9 assists. Young finishes with 15 points, 7 boards. Annika has 14 points, 7 boards. ODU outrebounded Marshall 44-32. ODU went 8-for-16 from the three point line. While yes, Simms went 4-for-5 from beyond the arc today.... ODU's three point shooting has stepped up of late. Over the last three games we are averaging 8.3's a game while shooting at a 51.0%. ODU is one of the best rebounding teams in the league. If we can get our three point shot to fall, that is just going to help us make us a very dangerous team.

Also the LM went 22-for-33 from the FT line. Second most FTs made on the season. (We made 23 against VCU)

This Saturday the LM will play top ranked WKU in a battle royal. Honestly this is the big one.

Go LM! Hope the vibes translate over to the men.

Side note: Is Simms a WNBA prospect?
