Our beat writer just tweeted that there is nothing new to report, and his last column on a possible Big Ten invite almost a year ago still stands.

Fans consigned to the WCHA hate UND because UND and Denver got the NCHC going, which effectively lowered the WCHA's status. Denver doesn't have the many Internet fans so they are no fun to pick at. Minny fans absolutely disdain us. Many fan bases hate UND because our fans take over their barns when we play. But their AD's like us for sellouts.

Thanks, I get what you're saying. Like I mentioned before, MSG was packed with Sioux fans.

Any guesses on when we might hear more on expansion of the BTHC, one way or the other? Not until after the NCAA tournament? Not until the end of the athletic school year (June-ish?)?

Not until the ND legislative session and the Frozen Four are complete. UND has a quite large exit fee from the NCIC, so that needs to be covered - either from a gift or from the Big Ten.

$1.5 mill is what I've heard. That is not large for a P5, but huge for a single sport conference, which don't normally have them. We are tight on money now, as our legislature will probably be p.o.ed, even if it's paid by a donor.

Didn't realize that the Irish were near the top of HE this year. Here's HE in pairwise ( the top 16 in pairwise get in minus the teams that get AQ, which will be at least 2):

The NCHC might get in 5 teams:

1 Denver
2 Mn-Duluth
5 WMU

The Big Ten is doing better this year

4 Minnesota

Very much approve of this move. If you are going to expand, go for powerful teams that regionally make sense and that the existing fanbases are going to be excited for good. Good move for the western big hockey schools (Notre Dame meanwhile is a good one for the eastern hockey members).
