RE: OOC home game questions
The Cajuns have hosted Alabama (1990) and Texas A&M (1996).

Since 2000, Oklahoma State and Kansas State.

Boise State last season.

With the exception of Idaho and NMST, has any other SB school hosted its state's "flagship" university?

and

What are considered to be your best two OOC homes opponents of all time?

Thanks!

App's got a huge edge in scheduling because UNC is a basketball school first. They are not going to put the money into football to allow them to easily buy out potential road games against G5 teams.

The rest of us are stuck in football crazy states. Such games will never happen.

Yep. There are two football schools in NC, App and ECU. NC State is a good program, but seems to be destined for mediocrity. They are too busy keeping up with the basketball Jones' in Durham and Chapel Hill.

BTW, UNC is not afraid to write a check for football, or anything else for that matter. They'd rather do it for basketball, but football gets their share. Kenan Stadium is not big relatively, but it's top notch. As is the case for everything else in Chapel Hill. Money is flowing with ease on that campus. Their endowment is in the billions, and ranks somewhere in the top 15 nationally for public universities.

App, that school in the middle of the mountains that is impossible to get too has a huge advantage in scheduling?

We can't have it both ways... or can we.

I don't think Ark State has played Arkansas at any location, but not sure.

If Troy has hosted Alabama or Auburn or the Louisiana teams have LSU, it's been a long, long time.

Being in a state with crappy Power 5 football programs has its perks.

Top two OOC home opponents?

1. UGA (who will never play in Statesboro. unless mandated by the state. which wont happen)
2. GT (this could possibly happen one day) or Bama / Auburn / Clemson / FSU (which wont happen).

Sorry, I guess I'm not being clear. I would like to know everyone's top two OOC home opponents you have played in the past or you have scheduled for the future.

We have had Ole Miss and Missouri in Jonesboro. Miami is coming this year.

It would appear that we are stuck in the M's.

I guess Houston is supposed to play us at home in a few years.

We average over 21K with crap schedules, 2 home weekday games, Thanksgiving weekend game, and a losing record. Can you imagine if we actually had a good home schedule with 6 games, 0-1 weekday home games, no Thanksgiving weekend home game, and a 8+ games winning team? We'd be at or well over 25K per game.

Army was pretty big name-wise.

Also Louisville and TCU, but that was before the P5/G5 distinction - Iowa St is coming to Jonesboro in a few years. Not a big name, but P5

RE: OOC home game questions
Troy has never hosted Auburn or Alabama. Troy has actually never played Auburn or Alabama. We played against their JV and Freshman teams between 1920 and 1948, but never the full varsity team. Troy went 3-1 combined against their JV teams... I guess the varsity teams were scared to play us after that.

Troy and Arkansas State are probably the only football programs in the nation that have been in existence for over 100+ years, yet have never played the P5 school(s) in their state.

As far as Troy hosting any flagship or big name teams, Troy has has hosted:

Florida State in 1950
Missouri in 2004
Duke in 2014
Oklahoma State in 2007
Mississippi State in 2012
Will host North Carolina State in 2020

WKU hosted UK a few years back if I remember correctly.

I think that was in Nashville.

They weren't Power 5 at the time, but we hosted TCU when they had L. Tomlinson. We hosted Ole Miss when they had Eli Manning. We've hosted Louisville under Charlie Strong, but they weren't P5 at the time. We had Mizzou a couple of years ago and host Miami this year. We have a H&H scheduled with Iowa State too.

And I forgot to mention Oklahoma State (sort of since it was in Little Rock). That game sucked.
